Leica Releases a Firmware Update For the D-Lux 5:
For any of you who own a Leica D-Lux 5, you can get the new firmware release through this link here to the Leica D-Lux 5 page. This new firmware update will offer users of the D-Lux 5 the following updates, which should make this camera even more of a pleasure to own:
1. Auto focus speed-up
2. The upper limit of the shutter speed in Manual Exposure Mode has been raised.
3. High ISO NR for ISO 1600 and 3200 has been added to the REC menu
4. When MF is set, you can make fine adjustments to the focus using a simpler operation
5. Improved auto white balance performance.
6. The position and size of the AF area you have set are now stored.
7. ACTIVE MODE has been added to the MOTION PICTURE menu.
8. The AF/AE Lock operated by half-pressing the shutter button has been improved.
9. MINIATURE EFFECT has been added to My Colour Mode.
10. MONITOR/VIEWFINDER has been added to the SETUP menu.
Firmware Update is Just What The Leica D-Lux 5 Needed:
Wow, faster autofocus, better noise reduction for high ISO shooting, better white balance, features that make the D-Lux 5 more convenient, MINIATURE EFFECT…It sure sounds like Leica did their homework, and made some cool improvements to the D-Lux 5. This firmware update should make the D-Lux 5 a little more competitive with it’s newer competitors. So if any of you own this camera, you should definitely go down to the D-Lux 5 page, and download the new firmware if you haven’t yet.
