Adobe Lightroom 4:
Big news for all you Lightroom fans :). Adobe has released Lightroom 4, and it looks pretty cool. I was actually a little surprised that this version came out so fast. The Beta version was released just a few months ago. I’m a Photoshop user, and have resisted Lightroom for quite some time but I think I might actually give it a try. This version seems to have a lot of cool stuff that I might want to try out.
Lightroom 4 is also cheaper then previous versions as well. The full version of Lightroom 4 costs $149 but if you have a previous version of Lightroom, you can upgrade for $79. There’s also a teacher and student edition of Lightroom 4 for $79. For those who have never used Lightroom, you can download a 30 day trial version directly from Adobe.
New Features in Adobe Lightroom 4:
Here are some of the key features of this new version:
- Much better shadow and highlight recovery
- Better white balance options ie. white balance brush to selectively adjust white balance
- Film grain simulation option
- Location-based organization: New map module
- Photo books/album creating capability
- Brushes to selectively adjust noise reduction and removal of amoire
- Support for 21 Leica lens profiles
- Soft proofing
- Ability to email images directly from Lightroom
This is just a taste of what’s in Lightroom 4. Actually, the more I read about the new features, the more I want to try it out. I’m probably going to get the upgrade version since I already have Lightroom 3 from my M9. If you want to see a detailed description of the new list of features, check out Adobe’s official Lightroom 4 site.
