Leica M6 TTL Millenium And Kodak Ektar:
Yes, the Leica M6, the Fuji X100, and the Olympus OM-D…but first, film. It’s been quite some time since I’ve shot with film, and I must say, I am actually finding it very enjoyable and rewarding. I do prefer digital, and I absolutely love what my Leica M9 can produce. For me, the M9 replaced my film camera, period. But for some reason, I just miss film a bit now. Maybe it’s because I’ve been staring at my computer for so many hours since I got back from Bermuda, and I’m kind of sick of processing images. Maybe it’s just the look of film that I miss or the feel of the rewind crank.
↑ My Leica M6 TTL Millenium edition with matching 35 Summicron ASPH. I love, LOVE my Leica M9 but everyone interested in Leica should definitely try out one of their wonderful film cameras at one point.
Whatever it is, I decided to purchase some Kodak Ektar, and go out shooting. For those of you who have been following my blog for a while, you all know that I was shooting with the Leica M3 a few months ago but that all stopped when I purchased my Fuji X-Pro1. The X-Pro1 kept me busy for quite some time. I love using the M3, especially with its larger magnification viewfinder but my Leica M6 TTL Millenium has a meter, so I decided to switch up. I use to be pretty good at metering by eye but since my purchase of my first M6, I got a bit rusty :). What can I tell you, I got use to a camera with a meter. Yay for modern technology :).
Starting to Love The Fuji X100:
What else? Well, I’ve also been shooting with the Fuji X100 for quite a bit. I want to write up a detailed review of the X100 because the camera really has evolved into something pretty awesome. When I first purchased the X100, I just never really bonded with it. The menu button was a bit sensitive, the camera’s wake up time was long, and the autofocus was a bit annoying. Image quality was excellent but to me…I don’t know, the X100 just didn’t feel quite right. I honestly think it was the raving reviews that messed it up for me :). Maybe I was expecting too much from the X100. But as of now, I really love using the X100.
The Fuji X100: compact, rangefinder styled shooting, and great image quality
But now I’m finally finding my groove with the Fuji X100, and I am enjoying it greatly. I am also very please with the results that come out of the X100. Yes, the Leica X2 is out but I’m pretty sure that the X100 will give it a good fight. Why? Because the Fuji X100 image quality is excellent, it offers rangefinder styled shooting, the lens is one stop faster, and now you can purchase the WCL-X100, which will convert the wonderful 35mm equivalent to a 28mm equivalent. Plus, you have the choice of a wonderful OVF or an EVF built in. All of this can be yours for less than the X2. Lastly, in my opinion, the X100 is actually built a bit better than the X-Pro1.
Possible Olympus OM-D E-M5 Review?:
I’m hoping so lol. My brother in-law bought the Olympus OM-D E-M5 today, and he is nice enough to let me try it out. He’s a great guy, and he actually helped me build findingrange.com. He got the OM-D along with a mail-in rebate offer from Olympus. You can basically get one accessory of your choosing for free. You can check out my Mail-in Rebate Offer For The Olympus OM-D E-M5 post if you are interested. The offer ends in 3 days so if you’re interested, you better hurry.
Well, thanks for visiting, and please stay tuned for more stuff here on findingrange.com. I think I will also be posting some Leica stuff soon…maybe a Leica lens review. For those who live in New York City…check out the heat today:
For those of you out shooting today…Good luck, drink a lot of fluids and please stay cool! Thanks for stopping by everyone!
