End of Summer Days…What’s Next (Fuji, Leica Stuff)

End of Summer Days…What’s Next (Fuji, Leica Stuff):

Happy Friday, everyone!  Sorry for the lack of posts, I’ve been quite busy, and the days that I’ve been free, I’ve been trying to enjoy the rest of the summer before it ends.  I do prefer colder weather in general (unless I’m on a beautiful island like Bermuda) but the weather here in New York City has been great.  It’s almost like being in Fall.  I’ve been fishing, catching up with some old friends, and walking a lot in the city.  The photo above was taken on one of my walks on the High Line in Chelsea.  I used my Leica M, and my newly acquired 18mm Super Elmar to take the photo. But back to business.

Recently, I’ve been using my 75 Summilux a lot more.  I don’t know, it’s just been a lens I’ve been basically falling in love with all over again.  It has a classic look to it, and it has amazing bokeh.  It’s also been a lot easier to focus now since I bought the Leica EVF2.  The M 240 and 75 Lux is also just a great combo.  I love being able to use some of these classic lenses on new Leica digitals.

I also have some stuff for the Fuji crowd that I’m planning on posting.  I’ll be getting my hands on a Fuji X-M1 with the XC 16-50mm F3.5-5.6 OIS lens to review.  I’m kind of looking forward to it…not to thrilled that it doesn’t have a viewfinder but from the pictures, the size of the camera looks great.  However, sometimes there are some decent deals on the Fuji X-E1 (right now, priced at $799), which makes it hard to decide which camera to get.  Since the X-E1 and X-Pro1 have focus peaking now thanks to the latest firmware update, I’m also trying out a few Leica lenses on the Fuji cameras, and I’ll be writing up something for that as well.  I’ve even used my 75 Summilux on it with great results.

So, I hope you all enjoy the weekend.  I’m always a little sad when the summer is about to end.  I think I feel this way because I use to have to go back to school ;).  Thanks for stopping by!

      Hey Meng,

How are things? Yes, I’m looking forward to shooting with the X-M1 :). The 18-55 costs about $700 here in the US. It’s a great little lens :).

I’m very fond of my 75 Summarit on my X-Pro1. Here’s one example:

Getting the adapter for the Fuji has made it so much more versatile. Having the M9 and X-Pro1 is such a great combo.

      Hi Michael,

I love the Summarit line of lenses. I used the 35 before but haven’t had the chance to try out the 75 yet. I heard great things about it. Great photo btw, and thanks for sharing it! I really enjoyed viewing your other photos as well, especially the Zanzibar and Surf Rider ones. The Teague photo is really nice as well…it’s very three-dimensional with nice, rich colors.

Yes, the M adapter is a great accessory for the Fuji system. I’ve been using it a lot more, and I love what I get from my Leica lenses, and the Fuji combo. Both systems compliment each other very well. Thanks for leaving a comment!

      Take care,

      Patrick
