A Walk Downtown With My Leica M 240 and 18 Super Elmar:
I had plans to meet a friend for lunch today, and decided to get out there a bit early to see what kind of photos I could get. Today’s setup was the Leica M 240 and the 18 Super Elmar. To be honest, I haven’t had time to take out my M in quite some time because I’ve been busy moving things around in my apartment/cleaning/etc. In other words, I feel like I need to change things up a bit. But it definitely felt good to take the M out along with my 18mm because it’s the latest lens in my collection, and a lens I haven’t used as much as I would’ve liked.
The performance from the 18 Super Elmar is fantastic, especially on the Leica M 240. I am extremely happy with it but it is very wide, and it takes some time to get use to…at least for me. My favorite focal length is the 50mm, so to go to an 18mm takes a bit of an adjustment. One thing I love about something this wide is the ability to get really close, and still be able to get the whole subject into my frame. I also love how a wide angle lens can exaggerate things at times. But there are times when I just feel like I’m a little too far from my subjects. Either way, it still performs great on the Leica M, so I’m happy.
So, here are a few photos that I shot today. All were taken in downtown Manhattan. By the way, I’m probably going to the PhotoPlus Expo this weekend, which I think will be pretty cool. I just want to play with the new toys…especially some of the Leica M and Fuji stuff :). I completely forgot about the expo but luckily, I met a new friend who seems more psyched about photography than I am, and she asked if I wanted to go. I will definitely post some stuff from it. Take care, everyone!
