Kodak Gold 200 Film in 120 Format Announced:
Hey everyone! I’ve been a little busy with some projects lately but I’ll have some new reviews coming soon. In the mean time, Kodak has announced something I was not expecting: I don’t shoot much film these days, and I definitely don’t shoot anymore medium format, since I’ve sold all of my MF stuff a while back but I think it’s really cool that Kodak Gold 200 film will be coming out in 120 format. For those interested, you can already pre-order it.
Thanks for taking the time to read my post! If it helped, please consider purchasing from any of the links mentioned here, which in turn, helps support this site. I get a small commission but it will not cost you anything extra. Thank you!
I think this is great for several reasons. For one, I grew up in the film era, so it’s nice to see film still playing an important role in photography. Yes, there are smaller companies that have been in the business producing some great film but it’s also so cool to see a larger company like Kodak still producing not just new film but 120 film. Honestly, this news has made me start casually surfing the web again for a nice medium format camera to use :). The picture I have above is a camera I used to own and I’ve regretted selling since.
To add to the good news, Kodak Gold 200 is even cheaper than Portra and Ektar. As many film shooters know, film is not cheap, especially if you like shooting with it a lot. It all adds up. Kodak Gold was considered a consumer film rather than a professional one back when I was shooting film, which I am guessing is the reason for the lower price. Still, in my eyes, there is nothing bad here, and it all means there’s just more choice in the 120 format.
So, if any of you get a chance, go check it out. I hope they come out with more in 120. Thanks for stopping by!
