A Night Out Around Dumbo Brooklyn:
Hey everyone. I was out late at night a couple of weeks ago around Dumbo to see if I could get a few more shots with the Sigma 28mm f1.4 DG HSM Art lens that I was reviewing at the time (full reviewing coming soon). It seemed like the perfect night to shoot. The weather was nice, and I had my friend with me, so at least I had some company. However, it wasn’t really as productive as I thought it would turn out.
Thanks for taking the time to read my article! If it helped, please consider purchasing from any of the links mentioned in this post, which in turn, helps support this site. I get a small commission but it will not cost you anything extra. Thank you!
It was just one of those days for me where the conditions were perfect, and the gear was also running smooth but I just wasn’t getting what I wanted. I guess I wasn’t really in the mood to shoot on this day. It started with the location. We went uptown, downtown, and even drove to New Jersey but I just wasn’t finding anything I really felt like shooting. We finally ended up in Dumbo, which is in Brooklyn but by then, it was really late, and we were pretty tired. As you can see, I think even some of the bridge lights were turned off by then.
We did manage to get a few shots but these are the only ones that I liked. It’s just three pics but I thought I’d post them here just for fun, and at least you can all see how great this 28mm performs. For one, it is extremely sharp! I will talk more about this in my review, of course, but the detail is just incredible. I also decided to convert the photos into black and white because I just felt like it.
Gear wise, these were all taken with the 28mm and my Panasonic S5 except for the photo below. I used my Gitzo tripod to get all the shots, so these were taken with long exposure, native ISO, and small apertures. I did bring my Sigma 45mm f2.8 DG DN Contemporary with me as well, and below is a shot I took with it. While I only used it once, with it being such a compact, light, and handy lens, there’s almost no reason to ever leave it at home :).
As for this 28mm f1.4, expect my full review of it soon…maybe next week. I’ve been busy lately but expect things to start rolling again soon. I’ve actually been testing quite a lot of new gear in the summer months, so those review should be coming right after the 28mm one. Thanks for stopping by!
Hi Patrick, I especially appreciate and love your second image. The sunstar is spectacular. That is an important feature to have in some my lenses.
Still hoping to see you slightly overdue review of the Sigma 105/1.4 instrument….I suspect you do not want your competition to know about your secret advantage.
