Fuji-X-M1-3

Fujifilm X-M1 First Impressions:

I really wanted to try the Fuji X-M1, so I decided to rent it at Lensrentals.com.  My brother in-law had a very good experience with them so, I thought, why not ;)?  So, here’s a quick first impressions of the X-M1.  My review will come shortly.  First off, the X-M1 is small!  This would make a great one lens/camera combo for everyday travel.  I honestly don’t know which camera I would buy; the X20 or X-M1.  The X20 is smaller, (especially the built in lens) but the X-M1 is not much bigger (with the right lens), and it has essentially the same image quality as the X-Pro1.  Hmm…that might be a good comparison test in the future ;). Zeiss Touit 32mm F1.8 vs. Fuji XF 35mm F1.4 R Lens Comparison:

The Fuji XF 35mm F1.4 R lens is one of the most popular lenses for the Fuji X Series.  It was the lens that I was looking forward to most when I first purchased my X-Pro1, and I’m sure it’s a first lens for many people.  It’s fast, it’s well built, it’s compact, and it produces fantastic image quality.  Recently though, Zeiss has entered the game with their Zeiss Touit series of lenses. Match Technical Thumbs Up EP-7S Review:

Like almost everything else in the world these days, camera equipment can be customized to suit one’s needs.  This customization goes further than just picking what kind of lenses or film you prefer (if you shoot with film).  Nowadays, there’s a huge market for little trinkets, such as, neck straps, hand grips and even soft release buttons.  One popular accessory for rangefinder and mirrorless cameras are the Thumbs Up devices made by Match Technical.  I’ve heard of only great things about Match Technical’s Thumbs Up devices but never used them because I was content with how my cameras felt in my hands.  As they say, “If it ain’t broke, why fix it?”  So, why am I writing a post about the Thumbs Up EP-7S for the X-Pro1?  Well, one of my friends, who’s visiting from California, recently bought an EP-7S for his X-Pro1, and told me I need to try it out.  I figured, why not?  Who am I to say no to trying out new gear, right? Zeiss Touit 12mm F2.8 Review For The Fuji X Series:

When I first heard the news that Zeiss was going to be making lenses for the Fuji X Series, I was really excited.  There were two reasons for this excitement:  One is that Zeiss has always been famous for making some of the best lenses in the world, and now they will be making autofocus lenses for my Fuji.  The other reason was, in a way, by having such a well regarded lens manufacturer making lenses for the X Series system, it kind of tells me that Fuji actually has long term plans for the X Series system.  The future can’t be told but to me, it’s definitely a good indicator when a third party company is willing to invest in research to design lenses for another manufacturer, right?  It makes me more willing to invest in this system.  So far, Zeiss has come out with two lenses for their Zeiss Touit series: a brilliant 32mm F1.8 (which I reviewed recently), and a super wide 12mm F2.8. Zeiss Touit 32mm F1.8 Review For The Fuji X Series:

The Fuji X Series cameras are very popular amongst photographers, and with good reason.  They offer photographers full manual controls, they’re reliable, and they produce spectacular image quality all in a small package.  Their prices are pretty decent as well.  Their increase in popularity only seems to push Fuji harder into making more products for their X Series system, which is good, and bad depending on how you look at it but that’s a discussion for some other time.  But one good thing about Fuji constantly investing in their X line is that it makes third party companies feel more secure about making products that are compatible with the X Series.  One of these third party manufacturers who’ve decided to invest in the Fuji X Series is Zeiss, which recently introduced the Zeiss Touit lenses.
