Fujifilm XF 16mm f2.8 R WR Lens First Impressions:

I reviewed the XF 16mm f1.4 a long time ago when it was first released, and found it to be one of Fujifilm’s best lenses.  It’s decently made, autofocus is good, and best of all, the image quality is superb.  Being that it’s a 24mm equivalent, it’s also a popular focal length.  However, with its large aperture of f1.4, it’s a physically big lens.  The truth is, not everyone really needs that large aperture, especially for something like a 24mm equivalent.  I for one, shoot most of my wide angle lenses with smaller aperture settings, and would gladly have a slower lens, if it meant it would be a lot more compact, not to mention, also significantly cheaper.  Well, Fujifilm listened, and they recently released the XF 16mm f2.8 R WR lens.  It’s two stops slower but it’s also much more compact, and the price makes it almost a steal if you ask me.  Here are my first impressions of it. Fujifilm XF 55-200mm f3.5-4.8 R LM OIS Lens Review:

There are tons of Fujifilm X Series lenses to choose from nowadays with a lot of new tech and designs but with that said, the earlier generation lenses are still really awesome.  As some of you know, I went on vacation last month, and I brought with me two lenses to review: one was the XF 8-16mm, which you can find the review here.  The other was an older lens that for some reason, I never reviewed before but decided to do so finally, the XF 55-200mm f3.5-4.8 R LM OIS lens.  Given that I do love ultra wides, I honestly thought I was going to use the XF 8-16mm most of the time but surprisingly, I used the XF 55-200mm more.  I also enjoyed it more.  Here’s why. Fujifilm XF 8-16mm f2.8 R LM WR Lens Review:

So much has changed since the beginning of the X Series.  We now have tons of camera bodies to choose from, and a great lens collection to back them up.  Recently, that lens collection has expanded to include a bunch of new lenses, one being the XF 8-16mm f/2.8 R LM WR.  With a relatively large constant aperture, a promise of pro-quality build, and such a uniquely wide focal length range, I’m sure there are a lot of people, especially from the DSLR world, who have been waiting for a lens like this to come out for the X Series.  However, at a list price of $1,999, it is definitely not cheap, and one has to ask the question, is it worth it?  Well, as some of you know, I absolutely love using ultra wides, so I was actually very eager to try this lens out.  My normal go-to ultra wide for the Fuji is the Zeiss Touit 12mm f2.8 but when I went on vacation recently, I left it at home, and took the XF 8-16mm instead to really spend some time with it.  Here’s what I think of it. Quick Comparison: Fujifilm X-T3 OOC Provia Jpegs And Edited RAW Files:

Hey everyone, I’m back from vacation.  This post was actually meant to be up while I was on vacation but my internet was limited and very slow.  This isn’t a long post; just a quick and easy read.  I’m currently preparing my reviews for the Fuji XF 8-16mm and XF 55-200mm lenses, so if you want a longer read, those will be up soon.  I brought those lenses with me on vacation.  Anyway, while I am a RAW user all the way, the Fuji X-T3 does produce some killer jpegs (so does the D-Lux 7 by the way…review of it posted a few weeks ago.  I thought I’d post a few of the OOC jpegs along with my RAW edits. Fujifilm X-T3 Review: A Versatile Next Level X Series Camera:

I’ve been a Fuji X Series user since the slightly buggy yet charming original X100 :).  Since then, I’ve owned or reviewed pretty much every X Series camera, and at the end of the day, I have to say, they’ve really come a long way since that first X100.  Not only are the electronics superb now, there are so many different choices in terms of bodies.  We all have our own preferences as to which X Series line of cameras is best for our needs but there are favorites; some prefer the rangefinder-like feel of the X-Pro bodies, for example.  Another favorite line is the X-T series; it’s definitely my favorite.  The X-T1 was extremely popular, and so was the X-T2.  I loved both, and I was seriously so happy with my X-T2 that I wasn’t even that excited when I first heard of the new Fuji X-T3.
