Cravar Rana 10 Leather Camera Bag Review:

If you’re looking for a premium leather camera bag, and you still haven’t found the one that fits your needs, there is something new that may strike your fancy: the Rana Series by Cravar.  For those who don’t know, Cravar is a manufacturer of premium leather goods, and they have been doing it for a while but now, they have decided to specifically target photographers with their new Rana Series bags.  They are releasing four sizes, which should suit a variety of needs: the Rana 7, 10, 13, and 15.  Thanks to Cravar, I was able to obtain a Rana 10 to review.  Here are my thoughts on it. Billingham 72 Camera Bag First Impressions:

As some of you know, I am a huge fan of Billingham bags.  I’ve reviewed quite a lot of them, and I also own a few.  They are extremely well-made, offer some of the best protection that you can buy, and last forever.  But there’s been one size that I’ve always felt was missing from Billingham’s vast collection of bags.  They needed a bag that just fit the essentials like one mirrorless or rangefinder camera, one lens, and basic accessories.  They do have the Stowaway series but the bags in that series while good, don’t quite fit the same criteria.  Well, now we have the new Billingham 72, which fills this spot perfectly.  Let’s take a closer look at it. Gitzo Century Compact Messenger First Impressions:

When I first heard about Gitzo coming out with new camera bags, I have to admit, I was a bit surprised.  From personal experience, I know they make fantastic tripods that are built to last but camera bags?  Well, the more I looked into them, the more they peaked my interest.  Take for example, the Gitzo Century Compact, which is what I will be talking about today.  First off, the storage space looks decent.  There’s even room for a tablet yet the bag itself isn’t that big.  It’s actually quite small.  Plus, it looks like this series of bags have some pretty unique features, and best of all, the prices aren’t crazy high.  Gitzo currently makes one backpack, and two messenger bags.  The Century Compact is the smallest.  It has just enough room for a decent mirrorless setup, and here are my first impressions of it. Panasonic Leica Vario-Elmarit 8-18mm f2.8-4 ASPH Review:

I really love using ultra wide angle lenses, so when I heard about the release of the Panasonic Leica Vario-Elmarit 8-18mm f2.8-4 ASPH, I definitely wanted to give it a try.  Having something with a focal range equivalent to 16-36mm can definitely come in handy.  I’ve tried a few of the Panasonic Leica lenses for the micro four thirds system before, and overall, I’ve been very impressed with them.  My favorite micro four thirds lens to this day is still the 42.5mm Nocticron. f1.2.  So, I would not be lying if I told you that I had very high expectations for this 8-18mm Vario-Elmarit.  Would it be any good?  Is it overpriced?  How well is it built?  All these questions ran through my head.  Luckily, I was able to get one on loan to review, and here are my thoughts on it. Panasonic Leica Vario-Elmarit 8-18mm First Impressions:

I’ve had this obsession with using wide angle lenses for some reason this summer.  I recently reviewed an oldie but definitely an excellent lens, the XF 14mm f2.8 for the Fuji X Series, and now, I have in my hands the Panasonic Leica DG Vario-Elmarit 8-18mm f2.8-4 for micro four thirds, which I’ve been testing for the past few weeks.  For those who want something a little different, don’t worry because I have plans to review the new Leica TL2 soon.  But for now, here are my first impressions of the 8-18mm f2.8-4 Vario Elmarit.
