Sigma 30mm f1.4 DC DN Contemporary Review:
There are a lot of benefits to owning fast glass. Who doesn’t like the ability to create beautiful bokeh or have more flexibility when shooting at night? The problem is, fast glass can often cost significantly more. Well, this is where something like the Sigma 30mm f1.4 DC DN Contemporary lens comes into play. On the micro four thirds system, the Sigma is a 60mm equivalent, which can be considered a standard lens. It’s fast, it promises good optics, and best of all, at $339, it’s $259 cheaper than something like the Panasonic 25mm f1.4 ASPH. The Sigma 30mm f1.4 sounds like a great deal but is it really worth it, and does it compare favorably to lenses like the Panasonic, which is considered by many as one of the top lenses in the micro four thirds system? Well, here is what I found out. [continue reading…]

Panasonic Leica 12mm Summilux f1.4 ASPH Review:
The collaboration between Leica, and Panasonic has created some excellent lenses in the past. For instance, one of my favorite lenses to this day is still the amazing 42.5mm Nocticron. So, when Panasonic announced the 12mm Summilux in June 2016, my expectations were definitely high. Here is a lens that essentially even looks like a 24mm equivalent of a Nocticron. However, like its bigger brother, the asking price is steep. At $1,297, one has to wonder if the 12mm Summilux is really worth it because there are a lot of great lenses like the Olympus 12mm f2.0 that are significantly cheaper. So, I decided to get a copy in and test it, and here is what I think of the new Summilux. [continue reading…]
Sony E 35mm f1.8 OSS Lens Review:
I received the Sony E 35mm f1.8 OSS lens when I was reviewing the a6300, and since it’s an older lens, this review will be a little shorter than what I normally write. I just thought that this lens would be great to review because its focal length, price, and speed, make it a great choice for those who are just getting into the Sony system. Plus, I love the 50mm focal length, so it’s always a joy to test another one out. So, let’s get started. [continue reading…]
Panasonic Leica 12mm Summilux f1.4 ASPH First Impressions:
Hey everyone! I have some really cool stuff coming soon. For one, I’ve been shooting with the newly released Panasonic Leica 12mm Summilux f1.4 ASPH, and I will be writing a review for it very soon. But for now, I thought I’d give all of you a taste of what this lens has to offer, and talk about my first impressions of it. [continue reading…]
Sony a6300 Mirrorless Camera Review:
The Sony a6000 was one of the most popular mirrorless cameras out there, and usually when something is that admired, it can be quite difficult for a manufacturer to make a worthy replacement. Well, it may have been difficult but that did not stop Sony from trying. Earlier this year, they released the replacement for their APS-C flagship, the a6300. It may look very similar to its predecessor but there are a lot of new upgrades under the hood. But are these upgrades worth the new asking price, and do they make the a6300 competitive enough considering many of their competitors have also released new cameras? Read on and find out! [continue reading…]
