Voigtlander Nokton Classic 35mm f1.4 II MC Lens First Impressions:

There’s actually a story as to why I wanted to get the new Nokton Classic 35mm f1.4 II MC (version 2) in to review.  I was looking through some of my portraits, and I was starting to miss some of that classic looking bokeh I see in some photos taken with older lens designs.  So, I started to do a Google search for lenses that weren’t insanely priced but that would also give that nice, classic rendering.  I ended up looking at the first version of the Voigtlander 35mm f1.4, which I totally forgot about (there are so many lenses these days, it’s so hard to keep track).  Then, I realized that a newer version was out, and I thought it’d be great to review it.  So, here are my first impressions of it. Billingham Hadley Pro 2020 First Impressions Review:

As some of you know, I’m a huge fan of Billingham bags.  They’re worth every penny because they protect gear so well, they’re extremely well-made, and more importantly, they last forever.  I have a bag that is over two decades old, and it’s still one of my normal day-to-day users.  It’s not an exception either; I have other bags from them that are many years old as well.  I treat them all like daily users, and trust me, I do not have, shall we say, the most delicate touch when it comes to my bags.  They get beat up, scraped, rained on, and snowed on.  One even had an unfortunate accident in my organic chemistry class a long time ago but it still survived ;).  My philosophy is camera bags are designed to protect my gear, and that’s how I’ll use them.  Anyway, I love Billingham bags, and I was definitely excited when I heard from them that a new bag was being released.  In fact, it’s not just a new one, it’s a new version of one of their most iconic, and best selling bag ever, the Hadley Pro. Thanks to Billingham, I’m sharing with you my first impressions of the new Hadley Pro 2020. [continue reading…]

Billingham AVEA 7 And AVEA 8 End Pockets Review:

If you owned a Billingham bag, and really like it but wish it had just a little more space, there are two options you have: you can buy a new bag (but you may not want to, if you really like the one you’re currently using) or you could turn to their end pockets.  Depending on the model of bag that you own, you have a choice between quite a few models.  Two examples are the AVEA 3 or AVEA 5.  You can also get the Delta end pockets.  Recently, Billingham released new ones called the AVEA 7 and AVEA 8, which I’ve had the pleasure of using for quite some time already.  Here’s what I have to say about them. Cotton Carrier Skout Sling Style Camera Harness Review

Cotton Carrier Skout Sling Style Camera Harness Review:

A neck strap is great, and it does come with most cameras you buy these days but it isn’t always the best way for some to carry a camera.  If you do lot of biking, hiking or you just have a more active life style in general, having your camera swinging around your neck just isn’t ideal.  You could get a wrist strap but it is not hands free, which leads me to what I’ll be talking about today.  We’re going to take a closer look at the Skout, which is a sling style camera harness.  The Skout is designed to carry one camera (or binocular depending on the version you order) securely and in an unencumbered way all while also giving you easy access to it.  Cotton Carrier, the manufacturer of this harness, was kind enough to send me the Skout to review, and here are my thoughts on it.
