Sigma 24-70mm f2.8 DG DN Art Lens Review L Mount:

The 24-70mm is one of those must-have lenses for a lot of photographers, and it makes sense, since it covers such a broad range.  With just one lens, and especially one with a relatively large fixed maximum aperture, a photographer can cover landscape, street, and even portraiture in many different kind of conditions.  So, many manufacturers make zooms in this range, and often times, they are top sellers.  One that I was recently able to test was the Sigma 24-70mm f2.8 DG DN Art lens.  This comes in Sony E mount or Leica L mount, and being that I’m a Leica guy, I used the L mount version.  Here’s what I think of it. A Look Back at The Leica Summaron-M 28mm f5.6:

Hey everyone, I reviewed the Summaron-M 28mm f5.6 a while back, and for those who have read it, you know that I am a huge fan of the lens.  In fact, right after I sent back my loaner, I immediately went to purchase one.  However, it wasn’t in stock at the time, and while waiting for it, I decided to cancel last minute because as some of you know, I’m just not a 28mm kind of guy.  I would use the lens because it has such a cool rendering to it but for my work, I thought my money would be better spent elsewhere at the time.  I still have plans of one day buying one because I truly think it is a special lens but that’s later on :).  Anyway, I do have a bunch of reviews coming up but I was looking through my archives, and just felt like writing up a little post about the Summaron-M 28mm. Fujifilm XF 18mm f1.4 R LM WR Lens First Impressions:

I know I haven’t looked at much Fujifilm gear in a while, so I decided to get back into it with several lenses.  One lens that I’ve been keeping an eye on lately is the new XF 18mm f1.4 R LM WR lens.  With a focal length that equates to a 27mm, it’s great for many situations including but not limited to street photography, cityscape, landscape, and environmental portraiture.  Let’s take a closer look at it by first going over the build. Sigma 28-70mm f2.8 DG DN Contemporary Lens Review:

Zoom lenses in the 24 to 70ish range are pretty popular because they cover so much that they make great everyday lenses.  So, it makes sense that manufacturers always seem to have at least a couple in their arsenal of lenses.  Sigma definitely has some nice zooms in this range, and one that was recently introduced is the 28-70mm f2.8 DG DN Contemporary lens.  What makes this lens intriguing is that even though it has a fixed maximum aperture of f2.8, which is pretty fast, it’s still a very compact lens.  Let’s take a closer look at it. 5 Compact AF L Mount Lenses From 16mm to 90mm:

When the L mount system was at its infancy, one of the things I heard most was how the lenses were so large.  I was okay with this because I wanted what was basically promised: reference level glass that was built to withstand professional use all while having autofocus, and having larger maximum apertures.  I realized it just came with the territory as some would say.
