Gitzo Mini Traveler Tabletop Tripod Review:
Sometimes, you need a stable platform to place your camera on when you’re out shooting but you don’t want to necessarily take out a full size tripod. Well, for those days, you can grab a tabletop tripod. They’re generally easy to carry around, since they are so compact. There are, of course, different levels of quality. You can get some pretty mediocre stuff out there but there’s also some great ones too. Recently, the Gitzo Mini traveler Tabletop Tripod was released, and according to company, it is currently the most lightweight carbon fiber mini tripod on the market. I had the pleasure of using it for a while, and this is what think of it. [continue reading…]
Sigma 70mm f2.8 DG Macro Art Lens First Impressions L Mount:
The L Mount Alliance has grown steadily with new gear coming out from all three manufacturers. As some of you know, I have always been big Sigma fan, and every lens that I’ve used so far with my Leica SL and now, my SL2 have been fantastic. Well, there might just be another one added to that list. I don’t normally shoot much macro…not that I have anything against it. It’s just something I don’t do much but recently, I’ve been testing the Sigma 70mm f2.8 DG Macro Art lens, and I have to say, I’m very impressed so far. In addition to doing its macro duties, it has been my short tele for the last few weeks. [continue reading…]
Voigtlander Color-Skopar 21mm f4 P Lens Review:
For those looking for a wide angle lens that is M mount, there are quite a lot of them out there. Leica, of course, makes a few but there are numerous other manufacturers as well. One of them is Voigtlander, and the lens I was using for an extended period of time is the Color-Skopar 21mm f4 P. As you can see by the name, it has a modest maximum aperture but it sure makes up for it in terms of size: this is seriously one of the smallest 21mm lenses that I’ve used. Also, this has actually become one of my favorite 21mm lenses. Here’s why. [continue reading…]
Fujifilm X-Pro3 Mirrorless Camera Review:
If you’re looking for something that feels a bit more analog, and also gives you that rangefinder feel but you don’t want to necessarily drop $7-8k for something from Leica, then the Fujifilm X-Pro series might just be what you’re looking for. In a sea filled with APS-C mirrorless cameras from tons of manufacturers, I feel the X-Pro cameras have always had a special place because they are a bit unique. For instance, there’s that great hybrid viewfinder. There are features like the manual controls, and as I mentioned earlier, the rangefinder-styled design. With the release of the Fuji X-Pro3, the overall character is the same but now, there’s more tech and capability. [continue reading…]
Voigtlander Color-Skopar 21mm f4 P Lens First Impressions:
When I’m looking for a wide angle lens, I generally want something small because I use wide angles for street, architecture, and even on vacations. Therefore, I want something that is easy to carry around, and I don’t mind sacrificing a larger maximum aperture for it, especially since most cameras these days have great high ISO capability. Plus, I stop down my wide angles generally anyway. With all that said, I’ve been wanting to try the Color-Skopar 21mm f4 P by Voigtlander for quite a while, and now that I finally got one in to review, here are my first impressions of it.
