Leica D-Lux 7 Compact Camera Review:
I know there are many who consider the D-Lux series of cameras just re-badged versions of their Panasonic cousins, and while there is some truth to that, there are some differences. Plus, the D-Lux series does mean a lot to me. My digital photography started off with a D-Lux 3. I was a diehard film shooter that just didn’t want to switch to digital. I was happily shooting with my Leica M6 and Mamiya 6 MF (man, I still wish I had that camera). It’s funny because now I love digital :). That D-Lux 3 played a crucial part because it was the camera that eased me into the digital world. So, when a new D-Lux is released, such as, the new D-Lux 7, I’m always up to giving it a go, and seeing what has been improved. Speaking of, the new Leica D-Lux 7 has definitely been improved but at the same time, I’m glad to see a lot of the features that were just about perfect, have remained in this new version. Let’s get started. [continue reading…]

Fujifilm X-T3 Review: A Versatile Next Level X Series Camera:
I’ve been a Fuji X Series user since the slightly buggy yet charming original X100 :). Since then, I’ve owned or reviewed pretty much every X Series camera, and at the end of the day, I have to say, they’ve really come a long way since that first X100. Not only are the electronics superb now, there are so many different choices in terms of bodies. We all have our own preferences as to which X Series line of cameras is best for our needs but there are favorites; some prefer the rangefinder-like feel of the X-Pro bodies, for example. Another favorite line is the X-T series; it’s definitely my favorite. The X-T1 was extremely popular, and so was the X-T2. I loved both, and I was seriously so happy with my X-T2 that I wasn’t even that excited when I first heard of the new Fuji X-T3. [continue reading…]

Cotton Carrier Skout Sling Style Camera Harness Review:
A neck strap is great, and it does come with most cameras you buy these days but it isn’t always the best way for some to carry a camera. If you do lot of biking, hiking or you just have a more active life style in general, having your camera swinging around your neck just isn’t ideal. You could get a wrist strap but it is not hands free, which leads me to what I’ll be talking about today. We’re going to take a closer look at the Skout, which is a sling style camera harness. The Skout is designed to carry one camera (or binocular depending on the version you order) securely and in an unencumbered way all while also giving you easy access to it. Cotton Carrier, the manufacturer of this harness, was kind enough to send me the Skout to review, and here are my thoughts on it. [continue reading…]

Leica D-Lux 7 Compact Camera First Impressions:
The past few months have been quite busy for me, as I mentioned in previous posts. But things are slowly clearing up, and I can finally get back to posting up some new reviews. A couple of weeks ago, I received the new Leica D-Lux 7 to review, and I was eager to try it because the D-Lux series and I have had a long history. I was a stubborn film guy that waited to the very last minute to switch to digital, and so the D-Lux 3 (or 4…it’s been a while, so I can’t remember) was actually my first digital camera. I was still primarily using my Leica M6 at the time. I loved that little D-Lux, and ever since then, I’ve always had a soft spot for the series. I’ve owned a few in the past, which includes the previous version, the D-Lux Typ 109, so I definitely wanted to know more about the new 7. [continue reading…]

Rokinon 10mm f2.8 ED AS NCS CS Lens Review For Fuji X:
If you’re looking for a wide angle lens, there are tons to choose from nowadays. You can stick to more “common” wide angle focal lengths like a 24mm or 21mm. You could even go a little wider with an 18mm. But if those just aren’t wide enough, there are more extreme ones like the Rokinon 10mm f2.8 ED AS NCS CS lens, which is what I’m going to talk about today. On a cropped APS-C sensor, such as, the one in my X-T3, which is what I used to review this lens, you’re getting a 15mm equivalent, and a 109.5 angle of view. Let’s take a closer look. [continue reading…]
