This is a quick post. I thought I’d share some photos taken at night with the Fuji X-Pro1. We all know that the X-Pro1 has great high ISO capability but this is to show you the high ISO capability in more real world use. I had a few requests to see more of the high ISO capability of the Fuji X-Pro1, so here are a few shots taken from 100 to 25600 ISO. As you all know, the Fuji X100 was a killer when it came to high ISO shots. The X-Pro1 not only ads more megapixels, it’s also a high ISO king as well.
When the Fuji X-Pro1 was first announced, I wasn’t completely surprised because it seemed like the next logical step after the X100. What did surprise me were the announcement of fast lenses, particularly the XF 35mm F1.4 R lens. I must admit, I’m a big fan of the 50mm focal length. I probably would’ve like the Fuji X100 a lot more if it came with a 50mm attached to it. The Fuji X-Pro1 system didn’t just offer a 50mm equivalent; it offered a FAST 50mm equivalent. I was impressed, and very eager to try this lens. Now that I have the XF 35mm F1.4 R lens in my hands, I’ve been using it almost everyday, and the more I use it, the more it impresses me. This lens and the Fuji X-Pro1 make a great combo. But is the 35 F1.4 XF lens the ultimate 50mm equivalent? Is the 35mm F1.4 lens the best lens to get with the X-Pro1? What are it’s pitfalls? First off, I’m almost finished with my review of the XF 35mm F1.4 R lens for the Fuji X-Pro1 so please stay tuned. I will also be doing a cool comparison between the X-Pro1 and two other cameras. Now on to today. I mentioned Fuji X-Pro1 review that I needed to purchase an ND filter (neutral density) for my X-Pro1 lenses. A few people asked me what an ND filter is for so I figured that I would show you. I was going to order an ND filter from my local camera dealer but it turns out that my girlfriend was listening when I mentioned I needed an one because she’s the one who bought it for me. She was ordering a few things from Amazon, and just added one on when we were on the phone. Cool, because I got it just in time for some weekend shooting :). [continue reading…]
