The Fuji X-Pro1 Review : Fujifilm’s Answer to The Mirrorless Camera

The Beginnings of the Fuji X-Pro1:

When the Fuji X-Pro1 was first announced a few months ago, people went crazy for it.  There was good reason for this because here was a camera that Leica should have produced a long time ago: a camera that offers great image quality and most importantly, the rangefinder experience all for a reasonable price.  I was excited about the X-Pro1, and I was eager to try it out, and see if they vastly improved on the already excellent X100. Quick Comparison: Leica 50 Summilux ASPH vs Leica 75 Summilux

The Leica 50 Summilux ASPH vs. The Leica 75 Summilux:

My last post was about my brother in-law’s golden retriever Kopi.  There was one pic that had a nice glow to it, and if you look closely, the eye is tack sharp.  That photo got me thinking.  I shot a similar photo with my 75 Summilux a couple of years ago, and the eye was also tack sharp.  The 50 Summilux ASPH is suppose to be the best 50 out there.  I’m not doubting that at all but I was just wondering how my recent photo of Kopi with the 50 lux compared to the photo I shot of her with my 75 lux a couple of years ago. The Leica 50 Summicron Lens Review:

The 50mm lens is my favorite focal length for the Leica M system, and one of the biggest reasons for this is because of my relationship with the 50 Summicron.  When I received my first camera (a Leica M3), this was my first lens (borrowed from my dad), and it was my only lens for many years to come.  There was no way that I could afford another Leica lens while in high school, so I made do with only a 50mm.  When I went to college, I finally saved up enough money to buy an M6.  My lens of choice?  Again, it was the 50 Cron.  At the time, since I bought my M6 new, this was the only lens that I could afford other than the 50 Elmar.  Combine the price with the image quality that the 50 Summicron has to offer, and it’s pretty much a no brainer. Monitor Calibration With The X-Rite Eye-One Display 2

A Post About Monitor Calibration:

Sorry for the lack of posts!  My computer screen was blacking out intermittently, so I sent it back to Apple.  On a side note, I am so glad that I bought Applecare!  They replaced the screen, and gave me an additional 90 days on my warranty (I only have a few days left to my Applecare).  It took a total of three business days, and I received it in the morning as well.  Anyway, because of that, I have been busy reloading all the software back into my computer (one suggestion before I ship the computer was to do a clean install), and it’s been taking me ages.  Since I’m still having a bit of difficulty locating all of my software, I thought I’d do my monitor calibration. The Gitzo G1178M Magnesium Ball Head Review

What Led Me to The Gitzo G1178M:

If you read my other post about the non-quick release version of the G1178M (the G1177M), I clearly stated that I prefer ball heads with no quick releases.  I never liked the idea of quick releases but I was sent the G1178M to check out, and well, I ended up sending the G1177M back, and keeping the G1178M quick release instead.  It just goes to show that I should never be “stuck in my old ways” :).
