My First Roll of Film From Ilford Lab U.S.A.:
Hey everyone! Just wanted to post something quick. I recently sent in a roll of Fuji Neopan 400 to the Ilford Lab in California. I mentioned them a few months ago, and I’ve been wanting to try them out for a long time. But to be honest, film took a backseat to digital for a while, so I never had the chance to finish the roll of Neopan in my Leica M6. I kept putting it off but I finally decided to just process it to see what I got. [continue reading…]

Leica T Typ 701: A Quick Hands On First Impressions:
I stopped by my local camera shop, Bergen County Camera, a couple of weeks ago to check out the new Leica T. I’m a Leica fan but I had mixed feelings about the new camera. On the one hand, I think it’s great that Leica has finally decided to compete in the mirrorless class. On the other hand, the Leica T is clearly designed to be different than an M, which some may or may not like. [continue reading…]

Leica M9 Revisited:
I finally had some free time this weekend, so I did some much needed spring cleaning of my hard drive. I accumulate photos fast, and I have a bad habit of telling myself that I will store my photos properly another day but then I don’t ;). Going through my hard drive is not something I was excited about but it was nice to look back at some of my old photos. Sometimes (especially in the digital world), I feel like all I’m doing is shooting, then processing, shooting, then processing. There are times when I don’t really get the chance to just sit back and look at what I shot, and going through my old photos was really nice because each one brought back a specific memory. And for me, part of why I love photography is that it helps me preserve memories, and experiences that I went through. Thoughts like the weather, what I was thinking at the moment, and what I was doing at the time have been flooding back into my head. I shot a lot with my Leica M9, and low and behold, I actually found a folder with some of my M9 shots, so I thought I’d post a few. [continue reading…]

Greeted With a Nice Sunset in New York City:
I was coming back from fishing last week, and I saw a really nice sunset. In fact, I don’t remember a time when I saw such a red sky here in New York City. It felt like I was on Mars or something (I don’t think this was related to the alignment of Mars, the Sun, and the Moon that occurred last week). I took pics with my iPhone but it was getting dark, and the car was moving too fast (I was not driving). Plus, with the amount of potholes in that area of Queens (actually, all of New York City), I’m not sure that road can even be called a paved road anymore ;).
Luckily, I live by the motto, “take your camera everywhere you go”, so I did bring my Fuji X-E2. I took a few pics but again, I was in a moving car, it was dark, and there were plenty of other cars on the road that got into my frame, so I didn’t get any really great shots. I was thinking, “Man, I wish I could be at my favorite spot in Brooklyn right now with my camera set up on a tripod” but hey, you can’t plan every moment, right? The important thing was I just wanted to record it for myself, and remember it. Anyway, I kind of like this shot, so I thought I would post it up. It was shot at 3200 ISO on the Kosciuszko Bridge, and with the XF 18-55mm at F2.8 because I needed a really fast shutter speed to compensate for the moving car.
I hope everyone is having a great Monday. Thanks for visiting!

Note from Admin: Hey everyone! Here’s the third guest post by Justin Watkins. His previous parts, one and two, are of his visits to Spain and the Maldives. This one is about his visit to Dubai. I hope you all enjoy!
Last Stop in Dubai:
As some of you may know from my last two guest posts (part one and two), I went with my wife on a recent vacation that included stops in Spain, the Maldives, and Dubai. This last guest post are my pictures from my last stop, Dubai.
Gear wise, I brought along an OM-D E-M1, an E-M5, the Panasonic 25mm F1.4, the Oly 12mm F2.0, and the kit lens that came from the E-M5. I’ve been a real fan of the Olympus system since my purchase of the E-M5. I did previously own a Leica X1 but the autofocus system was getting old for me. It was dreadfully slow for my needs even though the image quality was excellent. Also, when I bought my X1, I didn’t really need interchangeable lenses. But as my photography progressed, I felt limited by the fixed lens, 23mm Elmarit. I still miss my X1’s image quality but I’m perfectly happy with what the Oly system delivers. [continue reading…]
