Fujifilm X-M1 And XC 16-50mm First Impressions

Fuji-X-M1-3

Fujifilm X-M1 First Impressions:

I really wanted to try the Fuji X-M1, so I decided to rent it at Lensrentals.com.  My brother in-law had a very good experience with them so, I thought, why not ;)?  So, here’s a quick first impressions of the X-M1.  My review will come shortly.  First off, the X-M1 is small!  This would make a great one lens/camera combo for everyday travel.  I honestly don’t know which camera I would buy; the X20 or X-M1.  The X20 is smaller, (especially the built in lens) but the X-M1 is not much bigger (with the right lens), and it has essentially the same image quality as the X-Pro1.  Hmm…that might be a good comparison test in the future ;). End of Summer Days…What’s Next (Fuji, Leica Stuff)

End of Summer Days…What’s Next (Fuji, Leica Stuff):

Happy Friday, everyone!  Sorry for the lack of posts, I’ve been quite busy, and the days that I’ve been free, I’ve been trying to enjoy the rest of the summer before it ends.  I do prefer colder weather in general (unless I’m on a beautiful island like Bermuda) but the weather here in New York City has been great.  It’s almost like being in Fall.  I’ve been fishing, catching up with some old friends, and walking a lot in the city.  The photo above was taken on one of my walks on the High Line in Chelsea.  I used my Leica M, and my newly acquired 18mm Super Elmar to take the photo. But back to business.

Recently, I’ve been using my 75 Summilux a lot more.  I don’t know, it’s just been a lens I’ve been basically falling in love with all over again.  It has a classic look to it, and it has amazing bokeh.  It’s also been a lot easier to focus now since I bought the Leica EVF2.  The M 240 and 75 Lux is also just a great combo.  I love being able to use some of these classic lenses on new Leica digitals.

I also have some stuff for the Fuji crowd that I’m planning on posting.  I’ll be getting my hands on a Fuji X-M1 with the XC 16-50mm F3.5-5.6 OIS lens to review.  I’m kind of looking forward to it…not to thrilled that it doesn’t have a viewfinder but from the pictures, the size of the camera looks great.  However, sometimes there are some decent deals on the Fuji X-E1 (right now, priced at $799), which makes it hard to decide which camera to get.  Since the X-E1 and X-Pro1 have focus peaking now thanks to the latest firmware update, I’m also trying out a few Leica lenses on the Fuji cameras, and I’ll be writing up something for that as well.  I’ve even used my 75 Summilux on it with great results.

So, I hope you all enjoy the weekend.  I’m always a little sad when the summer is about to end.  I think I feel this way because I use to have to go back to school ;).  Thanks for stopping by!

Leica M And 75 Summilux Photos at a Mycle Wastman Performance:

Hey everyone.  Last Thursday, I went take pictures of a Mycle Wastman performance in the lower East side of Manhattan.  I didn’t know much about him…only that he was on the TV show called The Voice, which I’ve never watched before.  But he was really good.  His voice was very strong, and impressive.  I brought my Leica M, and a few of my lenses but ended up using my 75 Summilux for the most part. Coney Island For Some Hotdogs And Frog Legs

Leica-M-240-18mm-Super-Elmar-Coney-Island-2

Coney Island For Some Hotdogs And Frog Legs:

I was in the mood for some hot dogs, so I drove to Coney Island, which is only about 15 to 20 minutes from where I live, IF there’s no traffic.  The funny thing is that by train, it takes a lot longer because I actually have to go to lower Brooklyn, and then transfer to another line, and go back further into Brooklyn.  I always said we needed more trains in Brooklyn. A Nice Walk in NYC: Some Shots With My Leica 18mm Super Elmar

Clear Blue Skies in New York: Shots With My Leica 18mm Super Elmar:

The weather was beautiful yesterday.  It was nice, breezy, and I haven’t seen the sky so blue and clear in quite some time.  I was going to meet my brother in-law for lunch, so I asked him if he wanted to walk around in the morning for a bit to take some photos.  He shoots with an OM-D, and I haven’t shot with my M 240 in a while, so I figured I’d take it out with me.  I purchased a new Leica 18mm Super Elmar a few weeks ago but haven’t really had a chance to use it yet, so I was eager to try it out.
