More Updates And Improvements to Finding Range!

Hey everyone!  Traffic is steadily increasing now, so with the help of my brother in-law (who makes some awesome websites like webkinzinsider.com), I decided to make some new changes to Finding Range to try, and improve it.  Recently, I put a new “My Gear” page, and a “Contact Me” under the “About Me” menu.  I will sort things out better, and make things easier to find as time goes on but go check out my new “My Gear” page.  Some of you have asked me what I use on a daily basis, and those items on that page are it.  There’s stuff ranging from Leica, Fuji, Billingham, Gepe, Gitzo, and whatever else I use.  I also linked most of the equipment that I use to my reviews, so you can read those posts if you want as well.  Also, If any of you want to contact me to ask me a specific question or even just to say hi, please feel free!

As for new content, more posts will be on the way, including a little mini review coming out in the next couple of days, some awesome photos at Disney with the Fuji X-Pro1, and some comparison tests between all of the fix focal length XF lenses, and the zoom.  Of course, there will be other stuff as well so please stay tuned!  Thanks for coming to Finding Range, and thanks for the support everyone! Take care!

Fujifilm XF 18-55mm F2.8-4 R LM OIS Lens Review: The X-E1 Kit Lens

Fuji X-E1 18-55mm Review

Fujifilm XF 18-55mm F2.8-4 R LM OIS Lens/X-E1 Kit Lens Review:

When Fuji announced that they were coming out with the X-Pro1, it got many photographers out there excited because finally, there was a digital camera that reminded them of how cameras use to be built.  The Leica M digitals evoke the same feelings but they also cost a lot more.  The X-Pro1 was a camera that really allowed photographers to take an active role in the photographic process instead of letting the camera do everything for them but for several times less than something like an M9.  Furthermore, the X-Pro1 had many of the same attributes of a traditional rangefinder even though it was in the mirrorless class.  Many thought that just like a traditional rangefinder, only fixed focal length lenses could be used.  Then Fuji surprised us by announcing that they would be creating zoom lenses for the XF Series lineup.  The first of these zoom lenses is the XF 18-55mm F2.8-4 R Lens, which is the lens that I have here today for review, and the lens that came with my X-E1 kit. Fuji X100S and Fuji X20 Pre-order Available on Amazon and Adorama:

For those interested (and I know many of you are), you can pre-order the Fuji X100S and Fuji X20 on Amazon and Adorama!  Here are the links:

Fuji X100S at Amazon or Adorama

Fuji X20 at Amazon or Adorama (silver or black)

When I had the opportunity to review the X10, I was completely blown away.  The X20 has got to be pretty amazing, especially since they put a new X-Trans sensor in it.  But I think many are looking forward to the X100S, which definitely has been improved over its predecessor.  Here are some of the improvements for both of these cameras: [continue reading…]

The Leica Bug is Starting to Chase After Me Again

Leica M

The Leica Bug is Starting to Chase After Me Again:

Let me start out by saying that I love the Fuji stuff.  They make attractive, reliable, and decently-priced products that produce awesome images.  Plus, cameras like the Fuji X-E1 are just plain out fun to use.  All the Fuji people seem to really care about what the customer wants as well.  But I would be lying if I told you that I didn’t miss using my M9, and how excited I am for the new Leica M to come out. Photo of The Day: Trying Out The M-Adapter for The Fuji X-Pro1

Fuji X-Pro1 with Fuji M Adapter

Photo of The Day: Trying Out The M-Adapter for The Fuji X-Pro1:

Hey everyone!  I hope you all are having a great holiday season!  It’s been cold here in New York!  I’ve been a bit busy lately with the holidays but I manage to pull my old X-Pro1 out to play with it a bit.  Yes, old if I can even really say that since it hasn’t even been a year yet lol.  I’ve been using my X-E1 a lot!  Anyway, I bought the Fuji M adapter for my X series cameras a couple of months ago but I really didn’t use it much.

So, I did finally get a chance to use a bit more, and here’s a quick photo I shot walking around Union Square one day.  I thought the cloud formation was pretty cool, and I thought that it would look pretty cool converted to black and white.  I used my Fuji X-Pro1, with my 35 Summicron ASPH.  It’s pretty cool to use some of my M lenses with the X-Pro1 (for those interested in the M adapter, make sure your M lenses actually fit because some are not compatible).  It’s not always easy to use them but I really like the results.  I even got some pretty nice results with my 75 Summilux attached to the X-Pro1.

I’ll post a review of the Fuji M Adapter soon but not before I post my XF 18-55mm F2.8-4 R lens review.  The new zoom is a great lens, and I actually use it a lot more than I thought that I would.  Anyway, sorry for the delay on the reviews everyone.  Come back soon, it will be up before you know it.  Take care!
