Leica Summilux-SL 50mm f1.4 ASPH Lens Review:
Before the Summilux-SL 50mm f1.4 ASPH was released, there were just the two zooms for the Leica SL system. The zooms are superb but if you wanted a prime, your main option was basically to buy an M adapter, so you could use M lenses. I was an M user at the time but I was at a point where I was seriously considering moving on to another system. I love Leica products, I was a diehard M user, and I’ve used them for decades. My path into photography actually started with an M3 and a 50mm Summicron, so my love for Leica runs deep. But my photography has changed quite a bit; I shoot mostly fashion, portrait, and boudoir now. Also, focusing fast lenses, especially telephotos with an M just became more difficult for me. Leica SL Shoot: Blinds And Shadows With Lizzi:
This week’s portrait post (not really a portrait, I guess, but you get what I mean) was taken with my Leica SL, and the model was Lizzi (Insta). This was the first time I met Lizzi but we really clicked. She’s super fun to shoot with, and we even got some bubble tea in the end, which never hurts :). Anyway, this was originally a test shoot but we ended up with some great shots. We did mostly boudoir during this shoot but we also did some shots like these, which are more fashion type. Leica Summarit-M 90mm f2.4 Lens First Impressions:
Leica M gear is definitely not cheap, and for those maybe entering the Leica world for the first time, the Summarit line of lenses are a great way to do so, and to get a more complete system at the start. While they are still more expensive than say Voigtlander or Zeiss offerings, they are a nice alternative for those who may just want Leica glass to use with their Leica cameras. Furthermore, you’re still getting Leica quality here. The glass is excellent. It’s not as if these lenses are bad in any way. I’ve always been a fan of the Summarit line of lenses and I’ve tried most but there was always one that I didn’t get a chance to try out, and that’s the Summarit-M 90mm f2.4. I’ve finally received a review copy, and here’s my first impressions of it. [continue reading…]

At this price, even I’m considering adding an extra body ;). I don’t have either of those lenses in those kits. I know they’re excellent too. both of them are pro grade, especially that XF 8-16mm, which is just a large but killer lens. If you want to see the reviews for them, check on my Fuji reviews page.
