Billingham AVEA 7 And AVEA 8 End Pockets First Impressions:

Hey everyone!  I am doing last minute packing for my vacation while writing this, so I am kind of in a rush but I just wanted to write up a first impressions post about the new Billingham AVEA 7 and 8 end pockets.  As many of you know, I am a huge Billingham fan, so everything new that they release, I try to get my hands on :).  So, let’s get started. Vacation to the Southern Caribbean

Vacation to the Southern Caribbean:

I’m going on a cruise to the Southern Caribbean but I have a couple of posts that will be published while I am away.  I can’t wait to get some sun but it won’t be all play because I will be bringing my X-T3 to help me review a couple of items.  I figured it would be the perfect time to review certain lenses; I’m getting a bit tired of shooting pics of NYC, so it will be nice to photograph some beautiful beaches :).  That’s why I am bringing the XF 8-16mm f2.8 R LM WR lens.  I’m have the XF 55-200mm f3.5-4.8 R LM OIS lens on loan as well.

Along with the stuff I scheduled to be published while I’m away, I’ll also try to post stuff that I take there.  You can always check out my Instagram as well.  As some of you know, some of the stuff that I’ve been posting on Instagram is different than what I post here.

When I get back Southern Caribbean, I’ll write up reviews for the two Fuji lenses along with reviews for the newly released Billingham AVEA 7 and AVEA 8 side pockets.  Expect a first impressions post of them Monday morning.  Thanks for stopping by!

Leica D-Lux 7 Compact Camera Review

Leica D-Lux 7 Compact Camera Review:

I know there are many who consider the D-Lux series of cameras just re-badged versions of their Panasonic cousins, and while there is some truth to that, there are some differences.  Plus, the D-Lux series does mean a lot to me.  My digital photography started off with a D-Lux 3.  I was a diehard film shooter that just didn’t want to switch to digital.  I was happily shooting with my Leica M6 and Mamiya 6 MF (man, I still wish I had that camera).  It’s funny because now I love digital :).  That D-Lux 3 played a crucial part because it was the camera that eased me into the digital world.  So, when a new D-Lux is released, such as, the new D-Lux 7, I’m always up to giving it a go, and seeing what has been improved.  Speaking of, the new Leica D-Lux 7 has definitely been improved but at the same time, I’m glad to see a lot of the features that were just about perfect, have remained in this new version. Let’s get started. [continue reading…]

Fujifilm X-T3 Review: A Versatile Next Level X Series Camera

Fujifilm X-T3 Review: A Versatile Next Level X Series Camera:

I’ve been a Fuji X Series user since the slightly buggy yet charming original X100 :).  Since then, I’ve owned or reviewed pretty much every X Series camera, and at the end of the day, I have to say, they’ve really come a long way since that first X100.  Not only are the electronics superb now, there are so many different choices in terms of bodies.  We all have our own preferences as to which X Series line of cameras is best for our needs but there are favorites; some prefer the rangefinder-like feel of the X-Pro bodies, for example.  Another favorite line is the X-T series; it’s definitely my favorite.  The X-T1 was extremely popular, and so was the X-T2.  I loved both, and I was seriously so happy with my X-T2 that I wasn’t even that excited when I first heard of the new Fuji X-T3.
