Leica APO-Summicron-SL 90mm f2 ASPH Lens Review

Leica APO-Summicron-SL 90mm f2 ASPH Lens Review:

For the first two and a half years that the Leica SL has been out, there were only two zooms and one prime available.  Both zooms have been absolutely phenomenal.  I’ve owned the 24-90mm Vario-Elmarit ASPH for as long as I’ve owned the SL, and I can tell you that it is easily as good as Leica M prime lenses, if not even better than some.  The first SL prime that was released was the 50mm Summilux-SL ASPH, and all I can say is it’s the best 50mm that I’ve ever had the pleasure of using.  It’s a true next level reference lens, and one of the best parts is, it’s also autofocus, which means consistently razor sharp results at f1.4.  Those I plan to review in great detail very soon but right now, I want to talk about the APO-Summicron-SL 90mm f/2 ASPH. Bokeh Shots From The Fuji XF 80mm f2.8 Macro

Bokeh Shots From The Fuji XF 80mm f2.8 Macro:

I’m working on a couple of reviews now (both Fuji and Leica) but in the mean time, I was looking at some of my older images, and thought I’d just post a few pics taken at wide open aperture (with the exception of two pics) that I had left over from when I reviewed the XF 80mm f2.8 a while back.  I know some of you were wondering about the quality of the bokeh, so I hope these photos will help.  For those interested, you can read my XF 80mm review here. 7artisans Photoelectric 55mm f1.4 First Impressions

7artisans Photoelectric 55mm f1.4 First Impressions:

Hey everyone.  I have a bunch of stuff coming to this blog soon.  The reason I’ve slowed down in my posting lately is because I’ve been very busy finishing up my Leica APO-Summicron-SL 90mm f2 ASPH review.  It has become the longest review I’ve ever written, and it will have more photos than any other review I’ve ever posted by far.  But in the mean time, the 90mm APO put me in a portrait mood, and so I decided to see if I could get another portrait lens for the old Fuji.  I ended up getting in the 7artisans Photoelectric 55mm f1.4 in to review.  Do any of you know what it costs?  $119!  In addition to Fuji X Mount, this lens also comes in Canon EF-M Mount, and Sony E-Mount.  Here are my first impressions of it. 7artisans Photoelectric 25mm f1.8 Lens Review Fuji X Mount

7artisans Photoelectric 25mm f1.8 Lens Review Fuji X Mount:

Recently, I’ve been trying out lower priced third party manufacturers’ lenses, and I have to admit, some of them are pretty cool to use.  The last one I reviewed was an Opteka lens with a Fuji X Mount.  Today, I want to talk about the 25mm f1.8 lens by 7artisans.  I’ve been using this lens for a while now, and it’s been a great match for my Fuji X-T2.  At f1.8, it’s a relatively fast lens, and the equivalent focal length is 37.5mm, which is one that many photographers find useful because it is close to a 35mm.  It’s also a very compact lens, and balances nicely with most mirrorless cameras.  Lastly, the Fuji X Mount version currently sells for just under $80, which is a sweet price considering how much lenses can cost these days.  Let’s take a closer look at it. Fujifilm XF 80mm f2.8 R LM OIS WR Macro Lens Review

Fujifilm XF 80mm f2.8 R LM OIS WR Macro Lens Review:

In just a short amount of time, Fujifilm have gone to great efforts to create a lens collection for the X Series system that is not only versatile but complete in an attempt to satisfy a vast majority of photographers.  They have lenses in the ultra wide range all the way up to longer telephotos.  But one area where one could argue needs a little improvement is lenses concerning macro photography.  They do have the XF 60mm f2.4, which is one of the first XF lenses to be introduced, and extension tubes but I’m sure most of us can agree: we need more macro choices from Fuji :)!  So, Fujifilm heard us, of course, and recently released the new XF 80mm f2.8 R LM OIS WR Macro lens.  Let’s take a closer look.
