Leica SL Typ 601 Firmware Update 3.1 Released:
For those interested (I am for sure), Leica has released firmware update 3.1 for the Leica SL. I find this firmware update particularly good because according to Leica, it’ll improve the image quality, and overall color balance of the jpegs. Most importantly though (at least for me), it’ll improve the autofocus speed, and accuracy of the autofocus position of the Summilux-SL 50mm f/1.4 ASPH lens. I haven’t tried it yet but you can bet I will right after I finish writing this little post up :). The link to the firmware update is below:
Firmware Update 3.1
On a side note, I really like what Leica has been doing in terms of the firmware updates for the SL. Each update has actually been really useful, and makes the camera even better. I absolutely love my 50mm Summilux-SL. It’s my favorite lens from any manufacturer. I was actually okay with the autofocus but hey, I’m not going to complain if Leica can speed it up ;). So, thanks for stopping by, and for those who own the lens, feel free to drop me a message in the comment section to let me know what you think of the new update.

Leica 90mm f2 and APO-Summicron-SL 75mm f2 ASPH!:
Hey everyone! This is just a quick little post…I have to actually get back to finishing my review for the CL. I took a trip to New Jersey today to play with the new Leica APO-Summicron-SL 90mm f2 ASPH, and the APO-Summicron-SL 75mm f2 ASPH lenses at the Leica Boutique in Bergen County Camera. I took a few photos with both but they are mostly of my dad (who is also a Leica guy), so I really can’t post them here because he’s blog shy lol. Sorry, but I will post plenty of images from the 90mm soon when I get my own copy. I’ll also leave you with a few notes. [continue reading…]
Leica CL: A Few Out of Camera BW Jpegs:
Hey everyone, so I think my next Leica CL post will be the review but I was just messing around with the settings the other day, and decided to try the high contrast black and white jpeg mode. I don’t normally shoot jpegs as I prefer RAW files but for fun, I decided to try it out. It turns out that I like this setting a lot; I can see myself using this setting for when I don’t have time to do much processing. [continue reading…]
Leica CL: Early Morning Walk on The High Line:
I woke up early this morning to go down to Chelsea to meet a friend for breakfast. I brought along the Leica CL I’ve been reviewing. Size wise, it is absolutely the perfect camera to carry along when you’re not out purely just for photography. I had the 18mm Elmarit-TL attached. I’m not a fan of the 28mm focal length, which this little lens essentially equates to in 35mm terms but nevertheless, it’s been a great little lens to carry along. It’s sharp, compact, and focuses very fast. It’s actually been mounted on the CL more than any other lens so far. [continue reading…]
Cravar Rana 15 Leather Camera Bag Review:
Cravar has been a manufacturer of premium leather goods for quite some time but recently, they entered the world of photography with their Rana Series bags. With the aim of satisfying most photographers’ needs, there are currently four sizes to choose from. They’re called the Rana 7, 10, 13, and 15. Earlier in October, I reviewed the Rana 10, and I found it to be a great little bag that you can carry around all day. It’s beautifully crafted, functional, and built to last. However, it’s a compact bag, so for those who want something larger, there are two other options. You could either choose the Rana 13 or the Rana 15, which thanks to Cravar, I’m reviewing now. Here are my thoughts on the Rana 15. [continue reading…]
