Sony RX100 V Digital Compact Camera Review

Sony RX100 V Digital Compact Camera Review:

The Sony RX100 series has always been popular in the high end compact camera world because it’s pretty much perfect in its class to a lot of photographers.  It has tons of useful features, the image quality is excellent, and all of this is stuffed into a body that is compact enough to fit in one’s pocket.  To top it off, Sony currently sells previous versions of the RX100 along with the latest version, so this makes the RX100 series available to a broader range of customers.  So, with a camera this good, it’s hard to imagine Sony actually making a worthy upgrade but apparently they have with the new RX100 V, which is what I’m reviewing today. Canon EOS M5 Mirrorless Digital Camera Up For Review Soon:

Sorry for the lack of posts recently.  It’s been a very busy holiday season for me.  I will be posting my Sony RX100 V review very soon.  I will also be posting some pics from my Leica 50mm Summilux-SL soon.  But now, I want to talk about something new that I’m currently testing: the Canon EOS M5. My Leica 50mm Summilux-SL f1.4 ASPH Arrived Today!

My Leica 50mm Summilux-SL f1.4 ASPH Arrived Today!:

This is a short post because right now, I’m getting ready to meet Bob from Bergen County Camera.  Why am I going?  Because ladies and gentlemen, Bob has my 50mm Summilux-SL ASPH waiting for me :)!  I’ve been patiently impatiently waiting for this lens for quite some time.  It was one of the reasons why I decided to get an SL in the first place.

Those who frequent my blog regularly know that the 50mm focal length is my favorite, and the only 50mm lens I have a crazy obsession for isn’t a Noctilux or an APO, it has always been the 50mm Summilux ASPH for the M.  For me, it’s the perfect combination of superb optics, speed, size, build quality, and Leica rendering.  Leica has been hyping the new 50mm Summilux-SL ASPH for quite some time, and descriptions like new reference, and statement lens have been drilled into my head.  Those are pretty big words from a camera manufacturer already known for making some of the best optics out there.  The new SL lenses are all about no compromise optics and build.  It’s about breaking new boundaries in lens design, etc., which is one of the reasons why I’m willing to live with the larger size, and another reason why I decided to get an SL.  If that’s the case, this new 50mm Summilux-SL ASPH is probably going to be pretty spectacular to say the least.

So, you CAN bet I will be reviewing the new 50mm Summilux-SL ASPH!  I will make it my first priority, and I will be sure to take a lot of pictures for my review.  I won’t rush it because I want this to be as informative as possible given the insane price tag (I mentioned when I bought my SL that I would be eating ramen for a year but after this lens, I may just be able to afford the soup base) but at the same time, it’ll come out as soon as possible given that there are probably some SL owners eager to see if this lens is for them.  Anyway, have to go, and sorry for just a pic of the box.  Will post more when I get my hands on it!

Billingham S3 Camera Bag Review

Billingham S3 Camera Bag Review:

There are a lot of manufacturers making great camera bags these days.  Billingham is one of these fine manufacturers, and they have been making bags from England for what feels like forever to me.  In terms of price, they are definitely up at the higher end of the spectrum but in exchange, they offer bags that are extremely well-manufactured from some of the best raw materials out there.  They currently released a new line of bags called the S series, and I’ve alreadly reviewed the smaller version the S2, which can be found here.  Today, I will be talking about the middle one, the Billingham S3. Sony RX100 V First Impressions

Sony RX100 V First Impressions:

High end point and shoot cameras have always appealed to me because I love the idea of having a camera with huge capabilities that is also small enough to fit in a pocket.  These cameras can all shoot raw, have excellent lenses, large sensors (at least by point and shoot standards), and a host of other features that will help satisfy the photographer in me for when I can’t bring my larger camera systems.  At the same time, they also have full auto modes, so if I’m lazy or I’m out with friends, I can still get great images without having to go into full photographer mode.  A high end point and shoot series made by Sony, called the RX100 series, has been around for quite some time.  Recently, the company introduced the new RX100 V, which promises to be even better than its predecessors.  It’s actually been something I’ve been shooting with for a while now, and I thought I’d share with all of you my initial impressions of it.
