Sigma 14mm f1.4 Art: Some Black And White Images

Sigma 14mm f1.4 Art: Some Black And White Images:

Hey everyone!  I hope you all had a good weekend.  As some of you know, I recently posted a full review of the Sigma 14mm f1.4 DG DN Art last week, when the lens was officially announced.  I really enjoyed my time with it, and I had a few images left over that I was playing around in Capture One.  At first, I was editing them as color images but decided to switch it up a bit, and make them black and white.  I thought I might as well post them up.

Thanks for taking the time to read my post!  If it helped, please consider purchasing from any of the links mentioned in this post, which in turn, helps support this site.  I get a small commission but it will not cost you anything extra.  Thank you!

So, as I said in my review, I haven’t really shot with a wide angle in quite some time, especially one that is this wide.  It took some getting used to again but once I got the hang of it, it was so fun to use.  I forgot how much I used to love shooting with one.  I just love taking advantage of how an ultra wide like the 14mm f1.4 Art can exaggerate things.  I love that look :).  I don’t use one much these days because I shoot boudoir, and street fashion for my work.  I guess I could use one, if I wanted something different but for my style at least, I feel most comfortable with a 50mm.

↑ I remember this day.  It was nice and sunny.  Then all of a sudden, these clouds rolled in and a big storm came shortly :).  This was taken with f6.3 and 1000 ISO.

↑ I posted this in my review but thought I’d add it here too.  This was taken using f5.6 and 200 ISO.

Anyway, I had a few images left over, and I was messing around with them in Capture One today.  I thought I’d post them up because why waste them, and also, the 14mm f1.4 DG DN Art is a downright incredible lens.  It is one of the best ultra wides that I have used so far regardless of manufacturer.  I love the fact that it comes in L mount too :).

↑ I posted this image in my review as well.  This photo was taken using f8 and 200 ISO.

Camera wise, these images were all taken with the Panasonic Lumix S5.  I have found the Lumix S5 to be a great companion to my Leica SL2.  I absolutely love using it, and combine with the smaller lenses out there from Leica M mount, the Panasonic selection, and Sigma I Series glass, you have a camera system that is pretty amazing.  Here’s a system that will offer you fantastic images all while being easy to live with on a daily basis.

↑ Here’s one taken with 200 ISO and f8.

As for processing, I did everything in Capture One.  Photoshop was not necessary.  In general, I do all my RAW processing in Capture One because I just love the results.  If I have to do some more significant retouching, like with my model pics, I bring them into Photoshop.  All the processing of these images, including converting them into black and white, were all done in Capture One.

Anyway, I hope all of you enjoy the images.  If you have any questions about the 14mm f1.4 DG DN Art, let me know!  You can also read my full review of it.  Thanks for stopping by, and stay tuned for more shortly :).
