Sigma 56mm f1.4 DC DN Contemporary Lens First Impressions L Mount:
Hey everyone! So, my brother in law is still helping me do some big internal updates to my site but in the mean time, he said it’s okay to start posting again. I thought I’d start off with something for the Leica CL. As many of you know, I’m a big fan of the CL but one of its weakest areas is the fact that there aren’t as many native lenses for it. In my opinion, Leica really needs to speed up production of new APS-C lenses for the CL; it’s a fantastic camera. It’s true that we have M mount lenses, and you can use the full frame L mount lenses as well. However, I don’t want to rely on manual focus lenses, and full frame L mount lenses are huge. Well, Sigma has recently release three focal lengths that all have large f1.4 apertures, and at the same time, are very compact. I have all three on hand that I am currently testing them with a CL, and right now, I’ll be talking about one of them: the 56mm f1.4 DC DN Contemporary lens. [continue reading…]
Sigma 35mm f1.4 DG HSM Art Lens Review Leica L Mount:
The 35mm lens is one of the most popular focal lengths with good reason. It’s great for many types of photography from street work, landscape to environmental portraiture. I have to admit, the 35mm isn’t my favorite focal length but I can not deny its extreme versatility. With all that said, I had the opportunity to review the Sigma 35mm f1.4 DG HSM Art lens for the Leica L Mount. Here’s what I thought of it. [continue reading…]
Sigma 35mm f1.4 DG HSM Art Lens Leica L Mount First Impressions:
If you’re looking for a 35mm lens for your L mount camera, there are a lot of ways that you can go. For one, you can get an M mount adapter, and attach M lenses. As all of you know, there are tons of M mount 35mm lenses to choose from although personally, I don’t like this route as much because I want autofocus. So, you can go the autofocus route, and buy the APO-Summicron-SL 35mm f2 ASPH, which is superb but also expensive. Are there any other options? Well, how about Sigma? You can get one of my favorite L mount 35mm lenses, the 35mm f1.2, which I reviewed a while back (review here) but if that’s just too large and heavy, then the 35mm f1.4 DG HSM Art Lens might just be the lens for you. It’s also a stop faster than the Summicron. I recently received a copy for review purposes, and here are my first impressions of it. [continue reading…]
Weekly Portrait Post: Sunset Shoot With Tiffany and The Leica SL:
I’ve actually been doing a lot of shoots lately but not much editing. I just haven’t been in the mood to sit down, and get down to the edits but I have been looking back at some of my older photos that I have not posted yet, and found this set from my Leica SL days. These are shots of Tiffany (her Instagram), and they were taken right around sunset. [continue reading…]
Voigtlander Nokton 35mm f1.2 Aspherical III Lens Review:
The 35mm is one of the most popular focal lengths, especially for Leica M users. It’s a great lens for street photography, candid, and environmental portraiture just to name a few. It’s also just a great general lens to have for everyday photography. Because of its popularity, there are many different manufacturers that make 35mm lenses in M mount, and one of these is Voigtlander. They have quite a few 35mm lenses to choose from, and one of them is the Nokton 35mm f1.2 Aspherical III. I was able to test this lens out, and here’s what I think of it. [continue reading…]
