Leica Super Elmar-M 18mm f3.8 ASPH First Impressions
For those looking for an ultra wide angle lens that’s M mount, there are tons to choose from these days. Of course, we have the Leica M lenses. We also have some great choices from Voigtlander, and Zeiss. There are other third party manufacturers as well. But today, I’m going to talk about something from Leica, the Super Elmar-M 18mm f3.8 ASPH. This particular copy in this write up is actually my own, and not a loaner. I’ve had it for several years, and it’s seen quite a bit of use on multiple Leica bodies from the M 240 to even the SL. I’ve always had plans to review this lens, and I thought this would be the perfect opportunity to do so, since I can’t really review newer gear right now because of the corona virus pandemic. So, here are my first impressions of it. [continue reading…]
Weekly Portrait Post: Leica SL2 Black and White Images on a Rooftop:
As some of you know, I normally do these portrait posts once a week but because of the corona virus pandemic, I’m not shooting with anyone, so as I mentioned in my last portrait post, these will come more sporadically until I can meet up with people to shoot with again. Anyway, today I have for you some pictures that I took with my Leica SL2 of Lilia (Instagram) on my rooftop. I shot these a long time ago, and have recently edited them, so I thought I’d add them here. [continue reading…]
Panasonic Lumix S Pro 16-35mm f4 Review L Mount:
If you’re looking for an ultra wide angle lens for your L mount system, there are more, and more choices being introduced. Off the top of my head, you obviously have all the M mount lenses at your disposable. There is also the Leica Super-Vario-Elmar-SL 16-35mm ASPH, and of course, L mount offerings from Sigma. One lens I reviewed a while back was the Sigma 14-24mm Art lens, which was simply fantastic (review here). On the Panasonic end, there’s the Lumix S Pro 16-35mm f4, which is what I’m going to talk about here. [continue reading…]
Weekly Portrait Set: Leica SL Monochrome Images on a Rooftop:
This week’s portrait set is an older one of Kristina (Instagram) that I took with the Leica SL. It’s an older set because of self-isolation etc. from the corona virus. I probably won’t be able to go out and shoot with someone for quite a while, which is also why I haven’t been consistent with my weekly portrait set posts. I did do plenty of shoots before all of this but nearly all of them were boudoir shoots not fashion or portrait. If you want to see some of my boudoir work, you can check out my Instagram page, which I regularly update. But back to this shoot, Kristina came over for a boudoir and fashion style shoot, and we ended up with a bunch of different shots. As you can see, this set was taken on my rooftop, which I currently miss so much right now (I live in Brooklyn, and my studio space is in Manhattan). [continue reading…]
Leica SL2 And 75mm Summilux Indoor Shooting: Mono Flora:
Like most of you, I’ve been practicing social distancing, and self-isolating/quarantine measures because of the corona virus pandemic. Shooting, especially doing model shoots have come to a complete halt for me. I’ve been keeping myself busy with writing some reviews that will be coming out shortly. I’ve been catching up on a lot of editing (which you can see on my Instagram), and even experimenting a bit by trying new editing techniques. I’ve also been catching up on some of my Netflix, and Amazon Prime streaming when I get the chance ;). Still, I love photography, and miss shooting quite a bit. So, I was trying to find things to photograph that didn’t require me to go out much, and I remember this one photo I took a long time ago when I still had my Leica M9. It was a bunch of flowers, and I shot it with my 75mm Summilux. I thought I’d try something like that again. [continue reading…]
