Sigma 40mm f1.4 DG HSM Art Lens Review L Mount:
I’ve been a huge fan of Sigma products ever since I reviewed the SD Quattro a while back. Yes, the SD Quattro had its quirks, and it’s definitely not for everyone but the image quality is just fantastic. The Sigma lens that I used during that review was just as good. So, I’m so glad Sigma products are available for L mount, since as some of you know, I’m was an SL, and now an SL2 user. I’ve already reviewed a few of the L mount Sigma lenses (which can be found in my Leica section), and recently, I was able to get my hands on another one: the Sigma 40mm f1.4 DG HSM Art. Let’s take a closer look. [continue reading…]
Weekly Portrait Set: Rooftop Shots on a Cloudy Day With The Leica SL:
This week’s portrait set is from a while back actually. They were taken on a cloudy day. I have tons of files, and stuff was beginning to get disorganized, so I decided to re-organizing everything. While doing it, I came across these, which I never posted before. The person in these photos is Tiffany (Instagram). [continue reading…]
Panasonic Lumix S Pro 16-35mm f4 L Mount First Impressions:
Since switching to portrait and boudoir, my ultra wides have been pretty much collecting dust these days. I’ll occasionally use them for a specific project but otherwise, I’m mostly shooting with either a 50mm or 90mm these days. So for me, it’s hard to justify spending $6k+ on say the Leica 16-35mm f3.5-4.5 ASPH for my SL2. Luckily, the L Mount Alliance has given us L mount users a lot of different alternatives. For instance, there’s the excellent Sigma 14-24mm f2.8 which I reviewed a while back (review here). There’s also the Panasonic Lumix S Pro 16-35mm f4, which is what I’m going to talk about today. Sigma 40mm f1.4 DG HSM Art Lens L Mount First Impressions:
The L mount Alliance has, in my opinion, really been one of the best ideas in recent photography because it essentially allows three camera brands to increase versatility by working together, and sharing lenses. As some of you know, I’ve always been a huge fan of Sigma products, and when I first heard that Sigma was joining the L Mount Alliance, I was thrilled as a Leica SL owner. In fact, I’ve been going through each L mount version as they are being released, and reviewing them. Recently, I’ve been shooting with the Sigma 40mm f1.4 DG HSM Art, and here are my first impressions of it. [continue reading…]
Weekly Portrait Post: Shots Around Sunset With The Leica SL2:
This week’s portrait post is a short one (just shooting a lot, and swamped with a lot of edits to do lately), and it was taken in downtown Manhattan, specifically Chinatown. I had with me my Leica SL2, and I was shooting with Stephanie (Instagram). She’s one of my favorite people to shoot with; in addition to just being an awesome model, she’s one of the nicest people I know. [continue reading…]
