Sigma 45mm f2.8 DG DN Contemporary Lens L Mount First Impressions:

I’ve always loved Sigma lenses, and I was really happy when I heard that they were joining the L-Mount Alliance.  Since then, I waited (impatiently) for the lenses to be released.  After a little bit of a wait, I was glad to hear that a few were finally coming out.  One, which I was really excited about, is the 45mm f2.8 DG DN Contemporary Lens.  I was able to get one on loan to review, and here are my first impressions of it. Leica Summarit-M 90mm f2.4 Lens Review:

If you’re looking for an M mount 90mm, there are actually plenty of choices.  However, if you’re looking for a Leica branded one, they aren’t usually cheap with the exception of maybe just one that is, at least, more budget friendly: the Summarit-M 90mm f2.4.  At the price of $2,195, it’s a lot less than say the Summicron APO, and it’s just a tad bit slower in terms of aperture speed.  Plus, it has the benefit of being a lot more compact.  But how are the optics or even the build?  Let’s take a closer look at it. Weekly Portrait Set: 75mm Summilux and Leica SL:

This time around I took out an old classic: the 75mm Summilux-M f1.4.  I’ve had this lens forever.  It was originally my dad’s a long time ago, when he used to do more photography.  It was so long ago that it was still in production at the time; he bought it new.  I haven’t used it much in recent years but I’m starting to take it out more and more again, so you’ll see more from it.  I may actually even write up a comparison test between it and the new Voigtlander Nokton 75mm f1.5 Aspherical. Leica SL Shoot: Black and White Images and Rooftop With Tiffany:

First things first: I really have to remind myself to take some horizontal shots in my next shoots, so I can use them as the title pic, if I plan to do more of these weekly portrait posts :).  Cropping an image to fit up there, doesn’t right lol.  Anyway, I’m working on several reviews, and trying to finish as much editing as I can from past shoots because I know I’ll a shoot this week, specifically to test the new Voigtlander Nokton 75mm f1.5 Aspherical, and the Sigma 45mm f/2.8 DG DN Contemporary for L Mount.  These are two lenses I’ve been really wanting to test.  I may even do a 75mm Summilux vs. Voigtlander Nokton 75mm f1.5 comparison.  As for the 45mm f2.8, it’s so cool to finally get a new Sigma L Mount lens for my SL.  So, I finished editing this set of photos last night from one of my recent shoots, and thought I’d use it in this week’s portrait shoot post.  It was taken on a rooftop in Manhattan. Voigtlander Nokton Classic 35mm f1.4 II MC Lens Review:

How I ended up reviewing the Voigtlander Nokton 35mm f1.4 II MC is a funny story.  Well, maybe not a funny story but you get what I mean ;).  Keep in mind that it was around 1am but I was actually looking at some of my portraits, and was thinking it would be nice to change it up a bit.  I wanted something with a more classic bokeh, and so I starting googling.  I looked around, and came across some info on the first version of the Voigtlander 35mm f1.4.  The 35mm focal length is definitely not one of my favorite focal lengths but I love the overall look that this particular lens produced, and then I discovered a version two was recently released.  I guess I never paid attention but in fairness, so many things come out these days :).  So, I thought I’d see if I could get my hands on one to review, and to try out for myself.  I did get one on loan, and shot with it quite a bit.  Was I happy with the results?  Read on and find out!
