Leica SL: Window Portraits With The Summilux-SL 50mm f1.4 ASPH:
For over a year now, I’ve been shooting more portrait and modern boudoir style shoots. I’ve been doing about two to three of these shoots per week, which with the editing has taken up a lot of my time. A lot of my stuff is actually on my Instagram, which you’re all more than welcomed to look at but the vast majority I still haven’t posted yet. Good news is I’ve finally gotten to the point where I can post more and more gear reviews here. Next up will be reviews for the Fuji X-T30, Fuji XF 16mm f2.8, and the Leica 55-135mm APO-Vario-Elmarit-TL (btw, definitely going to be posting more Leica reviews in the near future). I also have a film guest post coming up by a great photographer. For now, I have a very short post just on a shoot I did a couple of months ago, so you can see what I’ve been up to these days. Leica APO-Vario-Elmar-T 55-135mm f3.5-4.5 ASPH First Impressions:
I’ve been posting a lot of Fujifilm content lately, which isn’t bad at all but I’ve neglected a lot of other stuff. So, in an effort to include other gear, today I bring you my first impressions of the Leica APO-Vario-Elmar-T 55-135mm f3.5-4.5 ASPH. For Fuji fans, don’t worry; stay tuned, and you’ll see the new Fuji gear I’m currently reviewing :). Getting back to the 55-135mm, as some of you know, this is an L Mount lens, so it’s designed for cameras, such as, one of my favorites, the Leica CL or the TL. It can also be used on the SL as well. Being that this lens is an 80-200mm equivalent, I guess you can use this lens for wildlife and stuff like that; however, I live in NYC, so other than the occasional turkey we might find in Staten Island lol (there really are turkeys there), I haven’t been using this lens much for say photographing birds. But I shoot primarily portraits and boudoir these days, so I’ve been using the lens a lot for those types of images. Anyway, expect a full in-depth review of this lens soon. Right now, here are my first impressions of it. By the way, everything here was tested on the CL. [continue reading…]
Leica D-Lux 7 Compact Camera Review:
I know there are many who consider the D-Lux series of cameras just re-badged versions of their Panasonic cousins, and while there is some truth to that, there are some differences. Plus, the D-Lux series does mean a lot to me. My digital photography started off with a D-Lux 3. I was a diehard film shooter that just didn’t want to switch to digital. I was happily shooting with my Leica M6 and Mamiya 6 MF (man, I still wish I had that camera). It’s funny because now I love digital :). That D-Lux 3 played a crucial part because it was the camera that eased me into the digital world. So, when a new D-Lux is released, such as, the new D-Lux 7, I’m always up to giving it a go, and seeing what has been improved. Speaking of, the new Leica D-Lux 7 has definitely been improved but at the same time, I’m glad to see a lot of the features that were just about perfect, have remained in this new version. Let’s get started. [continue reading…]

Leica D-Lux 7 Compact Camera First Impressions:
The past few months have been quite busy for me, as I mentioned in previous posts. But things are slowly clearing up, and I can finally get back to posting up some new reviews. A couple of weeks ago, I received the new Leica D-Lux 7 to review, and I was eager to try it because the D-Lux series and I have had a long history. I was a stubborn film guy that waited to the very last minute to switch to digital, and so the D-Lux 3 (or 4…it’s been a while, so I can’t remember) was actually my first digital camera. I was still primarily using my Leica M6 at the time. I loved that little D-Lux, and ever since then, I’ve always had a soft spot for the series. I’ve owned a few in the past, which includes the previous version, the D-Lux Typ 109, so I definitely wanted to know more about the new 7. [continue reading…]
More Portraits Around The Lower East Side Taken With The Leica SL:
I mentioned a few times before that I’ve been shooting a lot with the Leica SL for the past year but I’ve accumulated so many photos that I’ve been really behind in processing them. I have a ton of stuff: different photo sets, and portraits I’ve been working on, and of course, stuff for new upcoming reviews. I still have stuff from the summer that I haven’t quite gotten around to yet :). Today, I thought I’d post some photos from a batch that I was working on yesterday. [continue reading…]
