Panasonic Lumix S5: A Look Back at One of My Favorites:
I reviewed the Panasonic S5 a while back (full review here), so this isn’t a review. Think of it more as an update to the review, especially since nowadays, there are even more compact lenses out that will better match the size of the Lumix S5. I’m writing about it now because in the past couple of months, I had the pleasure of using one again. It’s been almost a year since I reviewed the S5, and I have to say, I am still a huge fan of this camera. 7artisans Photoelectric 75mm f1.25 Lens Review:
If you want to isolate your subject with the help of a beautifully blurred background or you just need more versatility in low light shooting, a lens with an ultra large maximum aperture is probably what you’re looking to purchase. A while back, these types of lenses were either much rarer or very expensive. Some of them are still very expensive but there are also some that are much more obtainable these days. Take, for instance, the 7artisans Photoelectric 75mm f1.25 lens. This is an M mount lens, so you can use it with a Leica M rangefinder camera or a compatible camera, such as, an L mount camera via adapter like me. Panasonic Lumix S 85mm f1.8 Lens First Impressions:
As some of you know, I’m a 50mm kind of guy, and it’s my main focal length when it comes to my boudoir or fashion type work. However, there’s no denying the usefulness of an 85mm lens for this type of work as well. Besides photographing people, sometimes a longer focal length is needed for landscape, street or even wildlife, just to name a few examples. If you’re an L mount shooter like I am, there are actually some great choices too. For instance, there is the fantastic Sigma 85mm f1.4, which I reviewed a while back, when it was first released. For those who want something a bit smaller, there’s the Panasonic Lumix S 85mm f1.8, which I finally was able to get around to testing (it’s a lens I’ve been wanting to review for a long time now). A Look at: Novoflex Leica M Lens to SL-T Lens Adapter
I don’t normally review adapters much, and I wouldn’t call this a full fledged review but I actually received more emails about my Metabones Leica M Lens to L Adapter post (review here) than I thought I would. So, I decided to give another Leica M lens to L adapter a try. I own the Leica version but at the time that I bought mine, the Leica SL was still new, and there weren’t many alternatives. 7artisans Photoelectric 75mm f1.25 First Impressions:
Hey everyone, I’ve been trying out some new gear lately. I’ve been using the new Leica M11, some L mount gear recently, and also some M mount lenses. One of these M mount lenses that I’ve been using quite a bit is the 7artisans Photoelectric 75mm f1.25 lens. Leica, of course, makes their own version, which retails for $14,295. It’s a beautiful lens but definitely not cheap :). In comparison, the 7artisans currently retails for just $449, which makes it much more affordable, and me, a bit more curious as to whether it is worth purchasing or not.
