Sigma 20mm F2 DG DN Contemporary Lens Review:
Sigma has really been creating great gear for L mount users, and it looks like they’re not ready to stop any time soon. For instance, if you’re looking for a wide angle lens, they already have a 24mm f2, and a 24mm f3.5, both with the I Series designation, which means designs that not only include exceptional optics but are much more manageable in terms of size. If you’re looking for something a bit wider than a 24mm, you’re in luck because as of today, they have just released the 20mm f2 DG DN Contemporary lens, and thanks to Sigma, I was able to test it out before hand. Here is my full review of it. [continue reading…]

Sigma fp L And Leica M Mount Lenses:
As some of you know I reviewed the Sigma fp L a while back, and I thoroughly enjoyed using it. You can read the review here, and you can also find my review of the 24mp fp as well, here. Getting back to the fp L, at the time I was using it, I thought it would work great with M lenses but didn’t really have a chance to thoroughly try them out with the camera. Thanks to Sigma, I was able to get another loaner to use specifically with my M lenses, and I thought I’d post a write up of what I experienced in case there are others who might be curious. Sigma 18-50mm F2.8 DC DN Contemporary Lens Review:
As some of you know, I’m a big fan of Leica, and their APS-C mirrorless system but it’s no secret that there just aren’t a ton of lenses out for the system. Yes, we have M, and full frame L mount optics but it just isn’t the same as having native APS-C lenses with autofocus. Well, I’m happy to report that today, Sigma has just announced the new 18-50mm F2.8 DC DN Contemporary priced at just $549. Release date is around the end of October. Thanks to them, I was able to test it out before hand to get a feel of it, and to experience its capabilities. I’ve been using it exclusively with the Leica CL, and here’s what I think of it. Leica Super-Vario-Elmar-T 11-23mm ASPH Review:
Leica may not have a ton of lenses for their APS-C L mount cameras but they have covered quite a wide range in terms of focal lengths, thanks to their zooms. So, if you’re looking for something in the wider end of the spectrum say for the CL or TL2, Leica does have the Super-Vario-Elmar-T 11-23mm f3.5-4.5 ASPH, which equates to a 17-35mm in 35mm terms. This is a great focal length range that should cover quite a bit, and recently, I had a chance to try it out. Here’s my full review of it. [continue reading…]

Sigma 24mm f2 DG DN Contemporary Lens Review:
When Sigma created the I Series, its goal was to give photographers a bunch of exceptional lenses without the bulk or weight. Over just a short period of time, they have steadily created more, and more with these characteristics giving photographers a range of optics that extend from mid-tele to wide angle so far. Speaking of wide angle, there is a 24mm f3.5 that I reviewed a while back that is an absolutely lovely lens but for those who need a larger maximum aperture, there is the new 24mm f2 DG DN Contemporary lens. This lens (along with the new 90mm DG DN, which I reviewed here) has just been released today, and thanks to Sigma, I was able to test it out before hand to get a feel of it, and to see its capabilities. Here’s my full review. [continue reading…]
