Sigma 18-50mm F2.8 DC DN Contemporary Lens Review:
As some of you know, I’m a big fan of Leica, and their APS-C mirrorless system but it’s no secret that there just aren’t a ton of lenses out for the system. Yes, we have M, and full frame L mount optics but it just isn’t the same as having native APS-C lenses with autofocus. Well, I’m happy to report that today, Sigma has just announced the new 18-50mm F2.8 DC DN Contemporary priced at just $549. Release date is around the end of October. Thanks to them, I was able to test it out before hand to get a feel of it, and to experience its capabilities. I’ve been using it exclusively with the Leica CL, and here’s what I think of it. Venus Optics Laowa 9mm f2.8 Zero-D Lens Review:
If you’re looking for an ultra wide angle lens, there are plenty to choose from, especially if you’re a Fujifilm X Series shooter. For instance, if you want something extremely wide…I mean like something that really pushes the limits, you might be interested in what Venus Optics Laowa has up their sleeves: the 9mm f2.8 Zero-D lens. Yes, I said 9mm :). On the Fujifilm camera or any other APS-C camera for that matter, this equates to a 13.5mm lens. I have never shot with anything this wide before (non-fisheye at least), so I was definitely looking forward to testing this lens out. Here’s what I think of it. [continue reading…]
Leica Super-Vario-Elmar-T 11-23mm ASPH Review:
Leica may not have a ton of lenses for their APS-C L mount cameras but they have covered quite a wide range in terms of focal lengths, thanks to their zooms. So, if you’re looking for something in the wider end of the spectrum say for the CL or TL2, Leica does have the Super-Vario-Elmar-T 11-23mm f3.5-4.5 ASPH, which equates to a 17-35mm in 35mm terms. This is a great focal length range that should cover quite a bit, and recently, I had a chance to try it out. Here’s my full review of it. [continue reading…]
Venus Optics Laowa 4mm f2.8 Fisheye Lens Review:
If you’re looking for something that is a bit different, and will add some fun back to your photography, a fisheye lens is something that can be great to use. There are quite a few out there these days for many different systems, and all in various price ranges. One of them is the Venus Optics Laowa 4mm f2.8 Fisheye, which is one of the widest focal lengths currently on the market. It comes in several different mounts ranging from Leica L to Fuji X mount. I was able to get my hands on an X mount version, and here’s my review of it. [continue reading…]

Venus Optics Laowa 4mm f2.8 Fisheye Lens First Look:
Hey everyone. I will be quite busy this week doing a little construction in my home but I wanted to at least show you what I’ve been up to lately in terms of photography. I have a few new ultra wide angle lenses for both L mount and X Series that I am currently reviewing. One of them is the Venus Optics Laowa 4mm f2.8 Fisheye, which I’m going to talk about today. I’ve used fisheyes before but nothing this wide before. Here are my first impressions of it. [continue reading…]
