First Look Video of the Fuji X-E1 From The Fuji Guys:
Check out this first look video on the new Fuji X-E1 made by the Fuji Guys. If I wasn’t waiting to see what Leica is offering at Photokina, I probably would have pre-ordered an X-E1 already to use as a second body lol. I think the X-E1 is priced very reasonably, and will definitely give more people the opportunity to experience what something like the X-Pro1 can offer. Don’t forget, the Fuji X-E1 uses the same sensor as the X-Pro1, which is awesome. If you don’t need the OVF, then you can save $700, and actually get a smaller body as well. Awesome :). I love the Fuji X Mount system, and it has honestly brought me nothing but joy since I bought my X-Pro1 in March/April. Now, it’s just a lot more available to many others who have at this point been wanting to try out Fuji’s X Mount but don’t want to be in the dog house for shelling out $1,700 for a body.
Anyone interested in a Fuji X-Pro1 but don’t need an OVF, and want it for less? Well, Fuji announced the production of their new Fuji X-E1, which is smaller than an X-Pro1, has the same size sensor, and is $700 less. You also have a choice of silver or black. I’m a fan of OVF’s but at $700 less, even I’m thinking about buying an X-E1 as a second body. I think it would be so awesome. I love my X-Pro1, and with this new X-E1, Fuji has just made the X lens mount experience even more available to the general public. If you’re interested, you can check them out:
Leica 50 Summilux ASPH Not Focusing…Back to my 50 Summicron:
Yes, my 50 Summilux ASPH…my favorite lens is not focusing correctly at F1.4. I must admit that I am not happy about this at all. When this lens is working properly, it is simply amazing! Now it’s a bit frustrating. I brought it in for calibration with my Leica M9 in May, and it still is not sharp when shot wide open. Why don’t I just stop it down a bit? That’s what one of my friends has asked me. Well, if that was the case, I should’ve just saved myself $4,000, and stick with my 50 Summicron. I bought the 50 Summilux ASPH so I can use the F1.4. I never had a problem with this lens until I brought my M9 in for a sensor replacement because my original sensor cracked. Leica NJ did a great job replacing my sensor in a very timely manner (and under warranty) but maybe something is off…IDK. [continue reading…]
Hey everyone, I’ve been playing with the Olympus OM-D, and it’s been pretty cool. For those wondering, it is a completely different beast from something like a Fuji X-Pro1. So far, to me at least, the X-Pro1 feels a bit more analog-like where as the OM-D seems more geared towards a person that embraces the digital world. Either way, the OM-D is pretty impressive, and it’s downright just fun to use. I wasn’t completely thrilled that the OM-D only has an EVF but it’s a great EVF. It’s much faster than the one on the X-Pro1. Also, one thing that I love about the Olympus OM-D or the micro four thirds system itself is the ability to use a whole variety of lenses from different manufacturers. [continue reading…]
Olympus OM-D E-M5 Video Created by Austin Lottimer:
My brother in-law has been going crazy over the Olympus OM-D E-M5. He absolutely loves it. He was nice enough to let me shoot quite a few photos with it the other day, and it is a great camera. It’s really fun to use, and it has some great features. He also bought the Panasonic 25mm f1.4 Summilux Aspherical in addition to the kit lens, and that 50mm equivalent is awesome! Is the OM-D better than the X-Pro1? Well, from first impressions, I think they’re both very different cameras, and therefore, have very different strengths and weaknesses. I can’t wait to write up a user review for the OM-D so stay tuned for that.
For now, check out this cool video my brother in-law sent me that was completely filmed with the OM-D. It was created by Austin Lottimer. The video has nothing to do with photography but I thought that it was cool to just see the video capability of the Olympus OM-D. Take care and stay tune for some more stuff coming soon. Thanks for stopping by!
