Leica M9 Sensor Crack:
I was explaining what a sensor of a camera was to a friend today, and when I looked at the sensor of my Leica M9, I saw a crack. I couldn’t believe my eyes especially since I was working on a project about a half hour before I saw the crack, and none of my photos show any indication of a problem. I read about this on a forum, and other blogs but I never thought that it would happen to me. I’ve had my Leica M9 for quite some time now with no issues whatsoever. I don’t abuse my camera, and I never dropped it.
I called my dealer where I bought my Leica M9, and the owner Bob offered to take it in for me personally (Leica NJ is only a few minutes away from his house). Hopefully, dealer backing will help me a little. My family has been buying Leicas from this dealer (Bergen County Camera) for 30 years, and they’re the best.
Hmmm…Sell My Leica M9 And Fuji X100 For a Leica MP?:
It’s just a joke :). I love my Leica M9, and I’m pretty sure that once it’s back from Leica NJ, it will work just fine. But it’s funny; first, I find out that my M9 has a sensor crack after a shoot. Since my M9 had a cracked sensor, I decided to take out my Fuji X100 to go street shooting around Avenue J in Brooklyn but then my battery dies because I forgot to charge it (my fault, not the camera’s). Luckily, I brought my Leica M6, which worked perfectly. My good old reliable M6 :).
Anyway, I’ll be bringing my Leica M9 in to my dealer’s tomorrow morning, and I will probably be shooting with the Fuji X100 until it comes back. This would be a great time to try out the Fuji X-Pro1 but mine didn’t come yet. I will keep you all updated on my M9. I had some photos to post today but I think that I will save it for tomorrow. Thanks for stopping by!
