Some X100 Photos of The New York Public Library:
I went to the New York Public Library to help my girlfriend with some research, and wow, it is pretty amazing. I think I went to it on a school trip when I was in kindergarden but I definitely did not remember much of it because seriously, I was quite surprised at how cool it was (and I take the bus home around there all the time). Luckily, I brought along my Fuji X100 with me because I just had to photograph some of the amazing stuff that I saw. It goes to show you that you should never ever be without a camera. Great thing about the X100 is that it really does offer some outstanding image quality yet it’s completely portable enough to carry around all day without being a nuisance. I’m going to miss this little guy when I get my Fuji X-E1. The bad news? Well, I forgot to empty my memory card so I was limited to only a few photos. I will definitely be making my way over there again very soon…maybe with the X-E1 when I finally get my hands on one. It should definitely be a great test for the new kit zoom.
Seriously though, if any of you are visiting New York City, you should definitely check it out. It’s a short walk from Times Square, and you can take pretty much any train there (the B, D, F trains being the closest. It’s also close to Bryant Park, which has ice skating. It’s completely free too, and they welcome photographers. Very cool. Anyway, I was in a black and white mood, so I hope you all enjoy these photos. I’m really going to miss the X100, and I’m definitely having second thoughts about selling it for the X-E1. The Fuji X100 is such a great little camera. Well, enough with the deviation, hope you all enjoy the photos! Take care everyone, and I hope you all had a wonderful Thanksgiving!
↑ My favorite thing in the library: a lion statue made out of Legos.
↑ The New York Public Library is huge. If you’re around Times Square you should check it out!
Really nice images. I miss my X100, I sold it so that I will use my Mk III more. Didn’t happen because of the weight and bulk (Mk III + 85mm 1.2) and ended up selling the Mk III for the Xpro1 haha.
Hi Dane,
Thank you for the nice comment! I sincerely appreciate it! Yeah, the X100 is great, and right now, I’m actually having second thoughts about selling it. I was going to sell it to help fund the X-E1. Plus, I figured that I wouldn’t really need it anymore. But the X100 is a pretty awesome camera! Wow, you sold your Mk III for the X-Pro1? Any regrets? I can’t say that I blame you lol. The Mk III is a great piece of machinery but I love the X-Pro1. It’s so easy to carry around everyday, and it produces some pretty amazing images!
No regrets about the Mk III except for the video taking part! I pre ordered a Blackmagic Cinema Camera to cover the video side but they are having some issues manufacturing it. But now I can really just concentrate on taking stills from the Xpro1, very portable. Don’t sell your X100! But the zoom and EX1 will make it so convenient so you might not need the X100.
The video must have been incredible with the MkIII! Lol, don’t sell my X100? Trust me Dane, I’m seriously having some second thoughts :)! Yeah but that’s the thing, I’m thinking the same way as you are. The zoom is going to be so convenient that I really might not need the X100 anymore.
I really like the Mk III video output even though it is highly compressed. The Blackmagic camera however shoots raw so there’s plenty of headroom for post coloring/grading. I would keep the X100 if I were you, I went to the Philippines with my family and used the X100 90% of the time I was there. I was too afraid to use the Mk III and the 85mm, too much attention grabbing. When I use the X100 they think it’s a crappy film camera and doesn’t stick out. Also I go to some concert where they don’t allow ILC’s and video. I use the X100 viewfinder to record videos all night long and they can’t tell at all its video since nothing shows up on the back LCD hehe.
Lol, I know what you mean. Every time I pull the X100 out people think it’s just a dinky old film camera that my grandfather gave me. Ooh, great idea about the concert thing. I didn’t even think about it.
