Photo of The Day: Trying Out The M-Adapter for The Fuji X-Pro1:
Hey everyone! I hope you all are having a great holiday season! It’s been cold here in New York! I’ve been a bit busy lately with the holidays but I manage to pull my old X-Pro1 out to play with it a bit. Yes, old if I can even really say that since it hasn’t even been a year yet lol. I’ve been using my X-E1 a lot! Anyway, I bought the Fuji M adapter for my X series cameras a couple of months ago but I really didn’t use it much.
So, I did finally get a chance to use a bit more, and here’s a quick photo I shot walking around Union Square one day. I thought the cloud formation was pretty cool, and I thought that it would look pretty cool converted to black and white. I used my Fuji X-Pro1, with my 35 Summicron ASPH. It’s pretty cool to use some of my M lenses with the X-Pro1 (for those interested in the M adapter, make sure your M lenses actually fit because some are not compatible). It’s not always easy to use them but I really like the results. I even got some pretty nice results with my 75 Summilux attached to the X-Pro1.
I’ll post a review of the Fuji M Adapter soon but not before I post my XF 18-55mm F2.8-4 R lens review. The new zoom is a great lens, and I actually use it a lot more than I thought that I would. Anyway, sorry for the delay on the reviews everyone. Come back soon, it will be up before you know it. Take care!
Very cool, post more photos!
Hi Dane,
Thank you! Yes, I’m very sorry for the lack of posts lately! I’ve been very busy changing some of the internal stuff to this blog. But I finished my XF 18-55mm review but I want to add a few more photos. That review should be coming out soon! Thanks again, take care!
I kept 2 EF lens, the 40mm pancake and the 100mm 2.8L Macro. Do you have any experience with other adapters other than the Fuji M? I thought of getting an adapter with Aperture dial so I can use the EF lenses but there’s not a whole lot of info on those.
Cool Dane. I don’t have any other experience with any other adapters. I’m starting to play with the M adapter a bit more, and I’m getting better results. It takes some getting use to for me. You got the new 40mm pancake for the Canon? How is it? Maybe you should write a guest post with the Canon lenses. I’m definitely interested.
I suck at writing haha! But I bought the EF to XF RainbowImaging adapter with aperture control. Tried the 40mm pancake and no go since its focus by wire, but the 100mm 2.8L Macro worked! The aperture dial is a joke, all it did was vignette the image so I ended up using a canon camera to set the 100mm aperture, took it off the body while it’s still ON and pressing the DOF button.
Lol, well, if you ever feel like it, the door is always open! You sound like you have some cool stuff. Hey, how do you like the new pancake lens?
I really liked it, it was my last canon lens purchase. I bought it for the size but ended up using it as a combo lens with my 85mm. It vignettes wide open on FF sensor but I like that, plus its only $200/$150 if its on sale. Too bad it didn’t work with the adapter so I might get another one for FD lens. I have a 50 1.4 from A1 days that I want to try on the Xpro1.
Wow, really? $200/$150 is a great price. I didn’t even realize that. Too bad it doesn’t work with the Fuji. It would be a great combo. Funny thing, A few weeks ago, I was actually thinking how cool it would be to mount the Canon 50 F1.4 on to the X-Pro1 after you mentioned that you use your Canon lenses on your Fuji. It’s so cool :).
Yeah I’ll try it. Probably when the 55 1.4 comes out I’ll do a test/review or nikon/canon legacy glass review with adapters.
Yeah, that would be cool, no pressure :). So you decided to wait for the 56 F1.4? Yeah I’m banking on that lens being pretty awesome. I know a lot of people are waiting for the 23 F1.4 but I think I’d just love to use the 56mm more. But there’s a lens I want from Leica, and a Zeiss lens I want for my Fuji. PLUS…a Fuji lens I want for my Fuji. So many lenses, so little money to go around lol.
Hey Dane,
Great Disney photos btw. I also love your dog photos.
