Leica M9 Firmware 1.196 Now Available:
Hey everyone, Leica just announced firmware update version 1.196 for the Leica M9 and M9-P. If you own an M9, you can get the firmware update from the link below:
Leica M9 Firmware Update Version 1.196
What is firmware update version 1.196 suppose to do?
- According to Leica, the firmware update is suppose to improve SD-Card compatibility.
- It also implements lens detection of the new APO-Summicron-M 1:2/50mm ASPH (I would love this lens but man, is it pricey! 🙂 )
- It’s also suppose to improve power management.
Again, if any of you are currently using a Leica M9, you should update it with the new firmware. I will be loading the new firmware update later today, and maybe go out for some shooting tomorrow. I never had any issue with Leica’s firmware updates before, and I’m pretty sure there won’t be any issues with version 1.196 as well. If there are, I will be sure to tell you all.

Leica M6 TTL Millenium And Kodak Ektar:
Yes, the Leica M6, the Fuji X100, and the Olympus OM-D…but first, film. It’s been quite some time since I’ve shot with film, and I must say, I am actually finding it very enjoyable and rewarding. I do prefer digital, and I absolutely love what my Leica M9 can produce. For me, the M9 replaced my film camera, period. But for some reason, I just miss film a bit now. Maybe it’s because I’ve been staring at my computer for so many hours since I got back from Bermuda, and I’m kind of sick of processing images. Maybe it’s just the look of film that I miss or the feel of the rewind crank. [continue reading…]

Fujifilm M Mount Adapter For X-Pro1 in Stock at Bergen County Camera:
If anyone is interested, I just got a call from Bergen County Camera telling me that there are a few of these Fujifilm M Mount Adapters for the Fuji X-Pro1 in stock. These are the official ones from Fuji not third party versions.
I don’t get anything for mentioning this but Bob at BCC is always nice enough to lend me equipment to review here on findingrange.com with no strings attached. He did not ask me to post anything, I’m just doing this out of my own free will. His customer service is fantastic, and I believe good camera dealers like this should definitely be supported, especially since there are so few of them out there nowadays. My family and I have been going there for almost 30 years. BCC sells the Fujifilm M Mount Adapter for the X-Pro1 at list price (no more), and will gladly ship pretty much anywhere.
You can give Bob a call at (201)-664-4113 or email him. Tell him I sent you, he will take good care of you. [continue reading…]

Back From Bermuda:
Hey everyone, I got back from Bermuda a few days ago. Man, if I could choose one place to live I would probably pick Bermuda. Friendly people, beautiful beaches, great weather, and great overall atmosphere. Check out Bermuda’s official page. I’ve been there several times, and each time, Bermuda only gets better. It was a great trip that felt way too short! It was primarily a vacation for me so it wasn’t a crazy photographic excursion. But I did get some cool photos, and I will be posting them when I get the chance. The photo above was taken when my Leica M9 and 35 Summicron ASPH.
In terms of equipment, my father used my Fuji X-Pro1, and I used my Leica M9 kit. I have so much planned for this site but I’ve just been very busy with unpacking, and primarily processing all of my vacation photos (which I have tons of). My girlfriend wants just the jpegs because she doesn’t want to wait but the photographer in me wants to process the RAW files :). I can’t help it, I have major control issues when it comes to my files lol. I don’t do much work in Camera Raw but still…it kills me when I know the photo can look a whole lot better with just two minutes of adjustments in Camera Raw.
Anyway, I hope all of you had a great week! It was nice talking to a few of you through email and comments. I love the feel of the photographic community developing here, and I urge anyone on this site to feel free to speak up about anything that concerns photography. Bermuda was beautiful but I guess it’s time to get back to work! Take care and stay tuned for more to come!
