What do all of you think of this?  I’ve always said that Leica has the SL system now, so they should produce longer telephotos for people that need them.  I think this is a great direction.  Sigma has definitely been doing this for the L mount system for a while now, as some of you know.  They do have something similar focal length wise, which I have reviewed for those interested.  The link to the review is here.    The price for the Vario-Elmar-SL 100-400 is $2,195, which isn’t too crazy for Leica either.  the 1.4x Extender is priced at $875.  As always, thanks for stopping by!  There are some specs below that I’ve listed:

  • Optical image stabilization system compensates for up to 4 stops of camera shake.
  • Detachable Arca-type-compatible tripod base.
  • Fast internal focusing.
  • Weather-sealed design with AquaDura coating.

Leica SL2 and SL2-S Firmware Version 5.1:

For those with a Leica SL2 or SL2-S, firmware version 5.1 has been released.  It seems like a small update this time with the main focus being on two improvements, which are:

  • Improved flash photography with Profoto units.
  • Firmware versions numbers for SL2 and SL2-S aligned.

So, for those running Profoto lights, this might be worth it.  I have not installed it in my SL2 yet but will probably do it before the weekend.  The links to Leica’s firmware pages are down below.  Have a good one!

I think this new launch is a great idea.  I am definitely a fan of the Nikon Z system, and as some of you know, I am a big Sigma fan as well.  Nikon needs more lenses, and well, I think this is a great opportunity for this system to grow.  This is definitely exciting news to me.  I have reviewed all three focal lengths in Fuji X, and Leica L mount.  You can find the reviews below along with some sample photos I took. Back From my Trip to Grand Cayman

Back From my Trip to Grand Cayman:

Hey everyone, I just wanted to say that I’m back from vacation, so it’ll be back to business as usual.  As some of you know, I went away to Grand Cayman.  It was a family trip for Thanksgiving.  It was quite a lot of fun but more importantly, it was relaxing, and I definitely needed it more than I thought.  I also was able to take a lot of photos, and I will be posting them in a big article about a traveling camera setup for here very soon.

As I mentioned before I left, I took with me my S5, and thanks to Sigma, three of their wonderful I Series lenses.  These lenses were the 20mm f2 DG DN Contemporary (the photo above was taken with this lens), the 35mm f2 DG DN Contemporary, and the 65mm f2 DG DN Contemporary.  Together, this was seriously such an incredible system for travel, and I promise to go into depth about it with plenty of photos to back it up.  I have sent the lenses back already but I miss them so much!  These lenses are just epic: you have stuff here that is compact, offers great autofocus performance, and at the same time, amazing image quality.  These new lenses are hard to beat.  I can’t wait to show all of you some of the pics.  For now, I have reviewed the lenses here, if you want more info about them.

I’ll also have some new reviews coming up, so stay tuned!  I hope everyone is enjoying the holiday season, and as always, thanks for stopping by!
