Leica NJ Will Replace My Leica M9 Sensor Under Warranty:
As I said yesterday, I brought my Leica M9 in to my local dealer (Bergen County Camera) to have him bring it over to Leica NJ for service. Yesterday, I discovered that I have a cracked sensor. My dealer has very good relations with Leica, and he’s always willing to help. He called Leica, and it turns out that sensors are backordered. I might not even see my M9 till June! But Leica did say that it’s covered under warranty (even though my camera is out of warranty), and since it is a repair under warranty, it takes priority. My guess is that maybe they have sensors on the side for customers who get them replaced under warranty. My dealer told me someone brought in a Leica M9 because he scratched the sensor by cleaning it, and it cost him $2,000 so I am extremely grateful for both my dealer’s help, and Leica for replacing it under warranty. Leica M9 Sensor Crack:
I was explaining what a sensor of a camera was to a friend today, and when I looked at the sensor of my Leica M9, I saw a crack. I couldn’t believe my eyes especially since I was working on a project about a half hour before I saw the crack, and none of my photos show any indication of a problem. I read about this on a forum, and other blogs but I never thought that it would happen to me. I’ve had my Leica M9 for quite some time now with no issues whatsoever. I don’t abuse my camera, and I never dropped it. [continue reading…]

Shooting Film Again:
I love digital photography, and I love the many possibilites and flexibilities that it can offer me. But I did mentioned in one of my past post that I wanted to go back to shooting some film again. Not that there is anything wrong with digital but there are several reasons for why I want to try some film again. One is that I was looking through some old family photo albums, and I was actually quite pleased with the results. The colors were so smooth, bright, and pleasing (especially from Fuji Reala). I even have this one photo shot in Cancun Mexico with Fuji Velvia, and the colors just pop. Seriously, the photo was so three dimenional, and for a moment, it made me wonder what was really wrong with film that we needed to replace it with digital :). Maybe I will scan that photo in the future, and put it here. [continue reading…]

75 Summilux Images:
I’ve been so busy processing images lately, I haven’t really even had much time to post anything big lately. I want to make it a point to post something new everyday so here are a few photos of my friend. The lighting in her apartment was perfect, and I couldn’t resist. She was trying to figure something out with her camera…one of the Olympus Pen cameras. These photos were taken with my Leica M9 and 75 Summilux, which I still have to bring back to Leica NJ for calibration. [continue reading…]

Locomotive Shot With My 50 Summilux ASPH:
I hope all of you had a good weekend. I was busy processing a bunch of wedding photos, and doing a little celebrating because it was my birthday :). The photo above was posted before. I posted it in The Railroad Museum of Pennsylvania Through the Eyes of The Leica 50 Summilux ASPH so if you want to see more, please go over there, and check it out. The reason I posted it again was because I had a couple of people email me recently about this photo. I’m actually currently working on a gallery section for this blog where I will put up my favorite photos. [continue reading…]
