Quick Shot With My Fuji X100:

Hey everyone, I was walking back to my car after going out to dinner with my girlfriend, and saw this beautiful bright yellow Lotus Elise parked on the street.  My first thought was, “wow, I can’t believe this guy is brave enough to park this car on the street” lol.  My second thought was, “let me get a shot of this car”.  So here’s a shot with the Fuji X100 taken at 1250 ISO at F2.0.  Yes, 1250 ISO and I must say, the image quality is awesome.  I really like the Fuji X100 but for some reason it just wasn’t a camera that I bonded with well but things are definitely changing, especially after the new firmware update.  The Fuji X100 is like a new camera! Fuji X-Pro1 High ISO Capability: Just a Teaser

Fuji X-Pro1 High ISO Teaser:

By the way, for those who have not seen it yet, I wrote up a review of the Fuji X-Pro, and it can be found HERE.  As the title says, this is just a little teaser.  I will be doing a more in depth review of the high ISO capability of the Fuji X-Pro1 soon.  I just couldn’t wait because I’m a bit excited at the results :).  As we all know, the Leica M9 isn’t a high ISO king but that’s ok because the highest I really shoot in the street is 1250 ISO, and Leica has fast lenses.  I’ve been shooting with the Fuji a lot over these couple of days (lens reviews for the X-pro1 will be out soon), and I’ve been trying to test all of the features to get a feel for it.  High ISO is quite frankly, amazing. Fuji X-Pro1 Review in The Works And Coming Very Soon

Fuji X-Pro1 Review in The Works:

Sorry, there’s no review of the Fuji X-Pro1 here yet but it is coming very soon.  I’m writing it as you read this, and the truth is, while I have a lot of images to put into the review, I want more because I really think that this camera deserves it.  All I have to say is that even with all the quirks, the X-Pro1 is a pretty awesome camera.  I absolutely love it, and I wake up eager to shoot with it.  It’s no Leica M9 but what an awesome cheaper alternative :).  This camera offers such great usability, and in my opinion, really follows the rangefinder way even though it’s not a rangefinder.  This is a camera for people who just love photography.

So I hope you all decide to stick around because I will definitely be putting up my review of the Fuji X-Pro1 very shortly.  For now, here’s a photo I shot with the XF 18mm F2.0.  The 18mm is equivalent to a 27mm because of the crop factor on the X-Pro1.  I know the XF 35mm F1.4 is the hot lens for the X-Pro1 system but this 18mm quite frankly surprised me.  I love this lens, and the image quality coming from this lens is quite exceptional.  This is a lot coming from me because if you read my Leica 28 Elmarit ASPH review, you’ll know that I actually hate the 28mm focal length!  The photo is a jpeg that came straight out of the camera with no photoshopping.  Unfortunately, Adobe Camera Raw doesn’t support the X-Pro1 RAW files yet.  I did choose the Velvia option in the camera though.  Anyway, if you want to see more photos before my X-Pro1 review, please check out my past post titled Fuji X-Pro1 First Shots: Jpegs Straight Out of The Camera.  For now, take care, and thanks for stopping by!

How Does The Fuji X-Pro1 Perform?:

First off, I need to get this out of the way: I absolutely love the Fuji X-Pro1.  I made it a point to not really read too much about the X-Pro1 so I could really give it my own fair, and unbiased judgement on it.  I’m glad I didn’t because I did see some pretty harsh criticism about the X-Pro1, and to be fair, there is some justification for that.  But the overall package is excellent!  I was out last night, and I shot almost 150 photos with it.  Today, I shot around 40.  I woke up thinking about the Fuji X-Pro1.  Honestly, because of the X-Pro1, I’m falling in love with photography again. A Few Portraits Before My Leica M9 Was Sent to Leica NJ

Last Photos From my Leica M9 Before It Was Sent Back to Leica:

It’s only been three days, and I already miss my M9.  For those who don’t know, I had to send my M9 back to Leica NJ because I had a cracked sensor.  You can read more about it in my past two posts (the first post, and the second post).  Even with new cameras constantly popping out these days, there is something special about a Leica M9…actually something special about any Leica M that no other camera can match.  If you want to go back to the basics…where you are in complete control of your shot, the Leica M9 is your camera.  There are no electronics to get in your way, and while many may think it’s a hindrance, it is actually surprisingly liberating.  The Leica M9 really helps you just concentrate on your shot, and I think that’s probably the most important feature of the M9 to me.
