Some Photos From Flushing Queens With The Fuji X100

Flushing Queens:

If any of you are visiting New York, and want to see a Chinatown, you should check out the one in Flushing Queens.  It is huge when compared to the one in Manhattan, and it seems overlooked by many tourists.  It’s also quite livelier with many more people walking around giving you plenty of opportunity for some street photos.

↑ Roosevelt Ave. where the 7 train drops you off.  This is one of the busiest streets if not the busiest here in Flushing.

It’s also relatively easy to get too.  Just jump on the 7 train, and ride it all the way to the last stop in Queens, and you’re there.  You can also take the Long Island Rail Road, and an MTA bus.

↑ The Long Island Rail Road drops you off right in the center of Flushing Queens.

↑ There are plenty of buses that will take you to wherever you need to go.  They also come quite frequently.

↑ The streets are often crowded but lively.  There are some great picture opportunities in Flushing.

I’m in Flushing at least two times a week these days.  This time, I brought my Fuji X100 with me.

Why I like the Chinatown in Flushing Queens:

First off, the food is a lot better than the one in Manhattan.  Don’t get me wrong, there’s some great Chinese food in Manhattan but the one in Queens has a lot more. There are all types of food that I don’t even know exists :).  There are also lots of food that I’m afraid to try.

↑ There are many of these street vendors that serve all types of foods and meat.  Here in this photo, the vendor is cooking his chinese shish kebab with coal.  It must be good because the line was huge.

↑ As the sign says, fresh roasted chestnuts.

↑ There are many vegetable markets out here with plenty of customers.

↑ I know it’s unhealthy buy I’m a sucker for Ramen :).

↑ A busy supermarket.

There are also a lot more stores in the Flushing Chinatown vs. the Manhattan one.  The stores sell a variety of things.  I will probably post more shots because I’m going back to Flushing on Wednesday.

Flushing is even close to the airport so it can be a quick stop before you leave New York.

↑ I love airplane shots.

You can also drive there, which is what I usually do now.  Driving there all the way from Bayridge Brooklyn definitely beats taking the train.

Anyway, as I said before, stay tuned for more shots from Flushing very soon with the Fuji X100.  I plan on going back Wednesday.  The Fuji X100 is a great little street camera especially because of the size.  It just has a few minor annoyances.  I’m going to write a review of the X100 soon, and also do a comparison review between the Fuji X-Pro1 vs. the X100 in the future.  I hope you all like the photos, and take care!
