My Recent Visit to The New York Botanical Garden

Fuji X-Pro1 and XF 60mm F2.4 Macro Lens Botanical Garden 12

The New York Botanical Garden:

I look forward to going to the New York Botanical Garden during the spring because I’m a big orchid fan, and they have their Orchid Show from March 3rd to April 22nd.  It’s up in the Bronx, which is a trek for me but I think it’s totally worth it.  I use to go to an orchid show downtown, which I really liked but it doesn’t happen anymore.  I use to be able to buy a lot of rare orchids for cheap there.

I brought my X-Pro1 with me since I haven’t used it much lately.  I also brought my zoom, and the XF 60mm F2.4 R macro lens.  It turns out that I ended up using the 60mm mostly.  In fact, all the photos here are shot with the XF 60mm.  I’m not a big macro photographer but I had a lot of fun shooting with the 60mm.  This is my least used lens but I really believe it’s my best lens optically for the Fuji system.  It’s just so sharp, and the bokeh is very smooth.

If you haven’t seen it yet, anyone interested should check out the New York Botanical Garden.  It’s pretty nice, and it’s a great way to spend the day.  I didn’t have many photos of the botanical garden itself, since I was just there with family, and to have some fun.  Thanks for stopping by today!

      Hi Alan,

Thank you for the kind words, and thanks for stopping by all the time. Wow, I didn’t realize we had such beautiful beaches here on the Northeast until I checked out your photos. Those are some beautiful photos you have there. I can’t wait to see more.

      Hey Meng,

Thanks! How’s everything? How are you enjoying your new camera?

      • hey, before this i was busy in some work, havent play much. But recently just started to really use it and realise i do get frust by the Focus issue, and as a stranger to prime lens,it can be a problem, but so far,did produce some work, :)…need more time, haha

That’s good Meng. I saw your new post, and you have some really awesome stuff from France. Focusing isn’t as quick but you’ll get use to it :). Primes are a bit strange if you’re use to zooms but I think you’ll really like the benefits once you get use to it :). How do you like your 35 f1.4 so far? It’s one of my favorite lenses for any system. Right now, I’m just waiting for the return of my M, which should come back hopefully this week.

      • hi,thanks,France was actually a pass photo from X10.thanks still…yaya, but i was shooting portrait so far and the back focusing can blur our my photo some time, haha….as you say, need time to get used to it :)….1.4 is really bokeh to the point i get alot of soft focus on my model, after few session, kinda getting there, haha…hence so far is good, loving the bokeh even though it soften my photo sometime,haha..but hope i can get the 18-55 soon, haha…currently still busy with some work, after that might upload my X-E1 photo in my blog, check it out then :)…haha, the M will be back, don worry,it will be very soon, haha, patient 🙂

        Hi Meng,

Great work with the X10! Yeah, f1.4 can produce a lot of shallow depth of field. But you’ll get use to it. It’s a great lens. The 35mm became my most used lens for the Fuji until I bought the zoom. Yes, I will definitely stop by when you have your X-E1 photos up. I’ve been busy as well…I have a lot of stuff coming up but I just haven’t had the time to publish them. I’m also really hoping to get one or two of those Zeiss lenses in for review when they’re released. I called up Leica for an update, and they said that my M should be here this week…Yeah, I know…I should have more patience but I want it back now lol :). Good luck with your work! Hopefully you can get it done soon because it would be great to see what you shot with your X-E1!

      • thanks again, need more time to used to it but the 18 – 55 is definitely a huge desire for me now, haha…I guess for the price you pay for the M,is quite normal to be less patient, haha,if it is me,i hope it will be arriving today, haha…it will be soon, very soon, stay tuned for more 🙂

I definitely should learn to be more patient lol. I’m here practically counting the minutes. The 18-55 is a great lens…but don’t worry, Meng :). You’ll get use to the 35 f1.4 soon enough. It really has its strengths. I can’t wait to see what you’re going to post up with it.

      • Hey hey,I just updated my blog with X-E1 production, check it out,:)
Anyway do you think is a good idea if i share your review in my blog 🙂
        just a suggestion,haha
