Leica L Mount or Sony E Mount

As some of you know, I’ve raved about this lens in my review, which you can find here.  I tested this on the Leica SL at the time, and not only is it well-made, the image quality is excellent.  For those concerned with weight, it’s also worth mentioning that this is actually one of the more compact, and lighter L mount lenses. It balances beautifully on an L mount body, such as, the SL making it a breeze to carry around all day.  Yes, you can find all these traits in an M lens, for example, but unlike an M lens, the 45mm has fast autofocus.  Combined with its focal length, this is one of the most versatile lenses that you can get for the L mount system, if you ask me.  This is one of those lenses that can do so much, and something you won’t want to leave at home.  Highly recommended, especially at this price.

Patrick, it’s a real running gun lens. Just a superb addition to L mount. As light as M35 summicron, snappy AF, great for action, and apart from wide open at shorter focal distances, it’s surprisingly sharp at the price point. It is akin to a puppy – just makes you want to go out and have fun.

      Hi Darrel!

It’s a fantastic lens. One of my favorites. I know a few people who got it for this price too. I had it on loan with the Sigma fp at the time, and I remember keeping it until the last day before it was due back. It was such a great lens to walk around with. I like all the gigantic reference level stuff for L mount but at the same time, it would also be nice to see more lenses like this one.

      Best,

      Patrick
