New Zeiss Touit Lenses For The Fuji X Mount:

Wow, how cool is this?  Zeiss is finally coming out with their lenses for the Fuji X Mount.  You can even pre-order the Touit Series lenses from several places.  There are a few sites already talking about the new Zeiss lenses but in case you didn’t know, Zeiss is initially coming out with two lenses. The Leica M Typ 240 Loose Carrying Strap Eyelets:

Hey everyone.  Sorry for the lack of posts.  I’ve been really busy shooting with the Leica M.  I’ve just been having a blast with it, and I will be posting more stuff soon but guess what?  Just when I was about to post my Leica M Typ 240 review I read this on Facebook:

Precautionary Check for all Leica M (Typ 240) deliivered before April 5 2013: Loose Carrying Strap Eyelets.

Basically, the eyelets can come loose while you use the camera.  It’s not every Leica M but I had this bad feeling mine might have to go back (I have bad luck like this sometimes lol), and sure enough, I found out from Leica NJ that mine has to go off to Germany.  Yes, Germany, you read that correctly.  This absolutely sucks.  I had the camera for like three weeks.

Do I regret buying it so early?  Not really because it’s a pretty awesome camera.  I’ve been out shooting almost everyday with it, and have fallen in love with this thing.  Plus, at least I’ll have more time with it before they replace it with an M11 but this is definitely not cool.  At least Leica is fully acknowledging the issue, and doing the right thing by fixing it.  Plus, I they said it wouldn’t take so long.  If you want more info about this, you can check out Leica’s page about this issue.  Right now, I’m just waiting for Leica to give me more info on what I need to do next.

Anyone else bought the new Leica M yet?  Did anyone find out if they need to send theirs back?  Feel free to leave a comment.  I’ll post my Leica M review today or tomorrow.  Take care.

Fuji X-E1-vs-Olympus-OM-D-Post

What’s Coming Next?: X-E1 vs. OM-D Comparison, RX100, Leica M:

Hey everyone, sorry for the lack of posts!  I was sick for a bit, and just when I thought it was over, I got REALLY sick!  It figures that the only year I didn’t get a flu shot is the year I actually get the flu.  To make up for the lack of posts, I’ll be posting my Fuji X-E1 vs. Olympus OM-D Comparison Part One today or tomorrow.  It’s finished but I’m just adding final touches to it.

So what’s new in the photo world these days?  Well, I heard some places in the U.S. like Adorama are finally shipping the Fuji X20.  The silver one looks beautiful.  I had an X10 on loan (check out my review), and it was simply fantastic.  Some lucky people have finally received their Leica M cameras.  I’m still waiting for mine but when I get it, I will definitely be shooting with it A LOT, and posting like crazy.  I’m thinking about writing an on-going review of it through the months or years that I will be owning it.

What else?  I got my hands on a Sony RX100!  Unfortunately, it’s not mine but I will be shooting with that for a bit soon.  It’s such a cool little camera, and it definitely is the definition of a small compact camera that simply rocks!  I was even thinking about doing a crazy comparison test between the RX1o0, and the X-E1…who knows :) .

Also, I received a pair of Pocket Wizard Plus III‘s for my birthday, so I’m hoping to try out some off camera flash/studio lighting techniques with the X-E1 and the new M when I receive it.  I’ve been actually really wanting to get more into this type of photography for a long time, so it should be really fun!

Finally, there will probably be a guest post or two coming here in the near future.  I think guest posts are great because it’s always good to hear from everyone about their views of photography or even photo equipment.  Variety is the spice of life, right? :)  Also, it’s mutually beneficial for both parties because both will get more exposure, and it’s a great way to meet new photographers out there.  So, if any of you EVER want to write up a guest post, feel free to send me an email.

Anyway, enough talk.  I’m still quite sick but I will definitely get my X-E1 vs. OM-D comparison post out today or tomorrow.  Thanks to all for the patience and support on this site!

Multi-Part Comparison Between Fuji X-E1 And Olympus OM-D in The Works:

Check out what I was able to get my hands on today…an Olympus OM-D with the Panasonic 25 Summilux F1.4, and the kit zoom!  I just so happen to own the Fuji X-E1 with the XF 35mm, and its kit zoom…hmm…this spells like the beginnings of a really cool comparison!  I will have the Olympus for quite some time so I’m thinking of making a multi-part comparison between the cameras, the cameras with both of these wonderful 50mm equivalents, and of course, the cameras with their kit zooms.  I’m not going to lie to you; it’s going to be hard for me to be completely unbiased since I love my X-E1 so much.  But for the sake of this comparison, I promise I’ll be as fair as I possible.  Plus, the OM-D is one killer camera in its own right.

What else?  Well, I’ll be pretty busy with that but I have a few other posts coming up as well.  Btw, for those who own an X-E1, and are wondering if the new firmware is worth getting, I used it all day with the XF 35mm, and it works fine.  I did not experience any noise issues, and my camera did state that it has the current firmware.  Just make sure that if you install the new firmware, you also install the newest firmware for the XF 35mm.  I honestly didn’t feel like it was that much of an improvement…maybe it was slightly more accurate in darker settings but that could just be wishful thinking.  I never really felt like I had a problem focusing with the XF 35mm before.

Anyway, I hope all of you have a great weekend!

New Fuji Firmware For the X-E1 Version 1.04 and X-Pro1 Version 2.03:

Fuji users, there is new firmware for your X-Pro1 (click here), and X-E1 (click here).  But according to some readers on Fujirumors.com, there might be some issues.  There are a few who say that while focus may have improved with the XF 35mm, it has slowed down, and become noisier.  There are also many who have said that there are no problems whatsoever.  I think I’m going to give it a try.  Maybe some are forgetting to update the lens as well, so if you decide to update your camera, make sure you also update the XF 35mm lens (click here).

Here’s what Fuji says the firmware is suppose to do:

  • Adding the compatibility with “XF14mmF2.8R”.
You will get the full performance of “XF14mmF2.8R”, including Manual Focus function.
  • 2.Improvement in performance
    • (1)Accuracy of auto focus performance has been much improved under a various shooting condition.
Shooting with XF35mm lens, Shooting for the target with relatively high frequency, One-push AF by pressing AE-L/AF-L button,

      • <Notice>
      • To enable more accurate AF performance with XF35mm lens, please update the firmware of your Fujinon XF35mm lens at the same time. Firmware version must be Ver 2.02 or later.
    • (2)Improvement of unexpected pixels recorded in the top far-left taken with XF18-55mm Lens under the condition of middle range focal length.

If any of you have already tried the new Fuji firmware, please feel free to comment below, and tell us about your experience.  I’m actually in the process of updating both my X-Pro1 and X-E1 now, since I’m going out all day to shoot.  It would be a great way to test the new firmware, and I’ll be sure to mention my experiences with it here.  Take care everyone!
