Fuji XF 90mm F2.0 R Lens First Impressions:

It’s 4am and I’m up but I’m feeling surprisingly energetic, which is kind of strange since I haven’t had a good night sleep in while.  I’ve been busy but the good kind of busy: I’ve been testing out some new gear to review here, and I’ve been occupied with a couple of cool photo related projects.  Mornings this early usually start off for me with some old school Santana (high definition tracks), specifically the “Treat” track played through my single ended triode tube amplifier and my Grado GS1000 headphones.  I’ve been a fan of Grado products and single ended triode tube amplifiers for many, many years.  Besides photography, hi fi is my other obsession :).  Anyway, I didn’t mean to drift off topic; I guess this is what happens when you don’t get much sleep ;).  Getting back to photography, my next review will be about the Fuji XF 90mm, and I thought for now, I’d post a few quick examples from this lens. Expanded Area of the High Line

Expanded Area of the High Line:

The weather’s been brutal lately in New York City as you can see from the photo above of a fountain in Bryant Park.  The snow storm we had last week wasn’t as big as we all thought it would be but it’s been very cold and windy.  For example, according to my weather app, this coming Thursday’s low will be 9 degrees.  In fact, another winter storm is occurring right now as I’m typing.  Maybe I should be thinking about moving to an area like Southern California :).  But the weather has not stopped me from going out with the Leica Noctilux F1 that Bob from Bergen County Camera was kind enough to loan me.  I’ve been getting images for my review, and just having a blast with it.  This is such a cool lens to use.  The way this lens renders is truly unique.  Since I’m going to return the Noctilux this coming week, I went out today to shoot with it thinking that I may not get a chance in the next couple of days if the weather is truly going to be bad. A Day of Fishing in Putnam County

A Day of Fishing in Putnam County:

I’ve been fishing a lot lately probably because I know the summer is coming to an end.  I used to fish all year round but I guess I’m getting older, and being on the boat all day in the freezing cold isn’t something I’m up for anymore :).  My fishing season now usually starts around March, and ends in late November.

Fishing is definitely fun but for me but it’s not necessarily about just catching fish.  It’s more about getting on the water, getting some fresh air, and clearing one’s mind.  I’ve lived in the city all of my life, and love it but I also love the outdoors.  It’s funny that I say this because I used to go to college in a very small town, which had a lot of outdoor activities but I ended up driving home a lot because I missed the city so much :).

I brought my X-E2 with the Zeiss Touit 12mm F2.8, and was originally going to bring it on the boat with me to take more photos, since the view at sunset can be breathtaking at times but I had second thoughts when I got there because I didn’t want it to smell like fish at the end of the day :).  I think one day, I’ll drive up to Putnam County (where I fish) just to take pics.  The scenery is amazing up there.  Anyway, I’ll have some cool stuff coming here soon, so stay tuned.  I hope all of you are having a great summer.  Thanks for stopping by!

Independence Day: Have a Great Fourth of July!

Fuji X-E1 Zeiss Touit 12mm independence day

Have a Great Independence Day!:

Hey everyone, I hope you all have a safe, and fun Independence Day, and a great holiday weekend.  I can’t believe it’s already July!  This photo here was taken with my Fuji X-E1 and the Zeiss Touit 12mm lens.  I’ve been shooting with both Touit lenses all week, and they’re both great.  I only wished the weather was better.  It has been so hot and humid here in New York City.  The 32mm F1.8 is a fantastic little lens but I must say, the 12mm is the lens I really don’t want to return.  Optically, it’s excellent but the focal length (an 18mm equivalent) is just so much fun to use!  I can’t get enough of this lens.  I think there might be an 18mm (either for the Leica or the Fuji) in my future only because I don’t know if I can live without this focal length ;).

Anyway, I just want to give you all an update of what’s to come: I’ll be writing up user reviews for both Touit lenses, and will probably post them next week.  I will also most likely write up a comparison post between the 32mm F1.8 Touit lens and the XF 35mm F1.4.  Lastly, I’ll be writing up a post that will have a lot of black and white photos from the Leica M.

So, again, I hope all of you enjoy the Fourth of July weekend.  Check out some of the Independence Day fireworks :).  I’ll be trying out the 32mm F1.8 Touit lens with some portrait shooting tomorrow, and then I’ll be post processing all of the photos that I took from both Touit lenses this weekend.  Take care everyone, and thanks for stopping by!

Fuji X-E1 and fishing this summer 1

Busy Start to Summer But Managed to do a Little Fishing:

Hey everyone!  Sorry for the lack of posts lately!  I really want to get into the habit of posting everyday but I also want to try to make quality posts.  Summer has finally arrived, and I’ve just been swamped!  I’ve been really busy working on a lot of photos, which of course, I will be posting here.  I did take one or two days off for some fishing though :).  I have a row boat in one of the reservoirs in Putnam County here in New York State.  It’s a short drive from New York City, and as you can see, the scenery is absolutely beautiful.
