Sigma fp L And Leica M Mount Lenses

Sigma fp L And Leica M Mount Lenses:

As some of you know I reviewed the Sigma fp L a while back, and I thoroughly enjoyed using it.  You can read the review here, and you can also find my review of the 24mp fp as well, here.  Getting back to the fp L, at the time I was using it, I thought it would work great with M lenses but didn’t really have a chance to thoroughly try them out with the camera.  Thanks to Sigma, I was able to get another loaner to use specifically with my M lenses, and I thought I’d post a write up of what I experienced in case there are others who might be curious. New Blog Posts Coming Very Soon

New Blog Posts Coming Very Soon:

Hey everyone.  Apologies for the lack of blog posts lately.  I hurt my back (not serious), and honestly, I needed a little bit of a break but new articles and reviews are coming up very soon.  I’ll actually have something up right after this post.

For those who are wondering, the photo above was taken with my Leica Super Elmar-M 18mm f3.8 ASPH, and a Sigma fp L.  I wish I could post a full resolution sample up, so all of you can see the true capabilities of this combo as the detail is breathtaking.  I went out and did some night cityscape shooting recently.  I haven’t done this in a while…actually, the last time I did go out this late just to do cityscape shooting was during pre-pandemic times.  Anyway, you can read more about my experience using Leica M lenses with the fp L here.

So, expect some new reviews that should come very soon.  I have some L mount reviews, and I’m hoping to get some Fuji related stuff in as well.  I will also be posting my full review of Billingham’s new Mini Eventer bag (you can read my first impressions of it here).  As always, thanks for stopping by!

Thanks for taking the time to read my article!  If it helped, please consider purchasing from any of the links mentioned in this post, which in turn, helps support this site.  I get a small commission but it will not cost you anything extra.  Thank you!

Sigma 18-50mm F2.8 DC DN Contemporary Lens Review

Sigma 18-50mm F2.8 DC DN Contemporary Lens Review:

As some of you know, I’m a big fan of Leica, and their APS-C mirrorless system but it’s no secret that there just aren’t a ton of lenses out for the system.  Yes, we have M, and full frame L mount optics but it just isn’t the same as having native APS-C lenses with autofocus.  Well, I’m happy to report that today, Sigma has just announced the new 18-50mm F2.8 DC DN Contemporary priced at just $549.  Release date is around the end of October.  Thanks to them, I was able to test it out before hand to get a feel of it, and to experience its capabilities.  I’ve been using it exclusively with the Leica CL, and here’s what I think of it. Venus Optics Laowa 9mm f2.8 Zero-D Lens Review

Venus Optics Laowa 9mm f2.8 Zero-D Lens Review:

If you’re looking for an ultra wide angle lens, there are plenty to choose from, especially if you’re a Fujifilm X Series shooter.  For instance, if you want something extremely wide…I mean like something that really pushes the limits, you might be interested in what Venus Optics Laowa has up their sleeves: the 9mm f2.8 Zero-D lens.  Yes, I said 9mm :).  On the Fujifilm camera or any other APS-C camera for that matter, this equates to a 13.5mm lens.  I have never shot with anything this wide before (non-fisheye at least), so I was definitely looking forward to testing this lens out.  Here’s what I think of it.
