My First Film Scans Taken With My Leica M6:
As the title says, these are my first film scans ever. I grew up during the film age (you can check out my About Me page) but once I went digital, I never really looked back. I never scanned film before nor do I consider myself an expert at it in any way. But I am definitely eager to learn more about this part of photography. I can’t believe how much fun I’m actually having! BTW, it’s great using a Leica film camera again.
So this is going to be a short post. These scans were more of a test for me. I definitely plan on improving. I was just so eager to try this, I took whatever pictures that I could find, and processed the roll as fast as I could. As stated by the title, I am using my Leica M6 TTL Millenium, and this roll of film is Kodak Ektar. I just get the negatives from the lab, and it only costs me $5.00! I didn’t invest in a new scanner; instead, I am using my old Epson 4870 Pro with the Epson software. I want to experiment a bit more to see if I really like scanning my film before I invest any money into it.
I’m definitely psyched about this! It also means that I can still use my wonderful Leica M lenses since as of now, I’m selling my M9 to purchase the new Leica M, which won’t be coming out till early 2013. I’m taking my Leica M6 out all weekend. So far, I have a bunch of Kodak Ektar but I’m thinking about trying some black and white next? Any suggestions? Please feel free to comment. Thanks for stopping by and take care everyone!
