Fuji X-E2 Announced!:

First things first; sorry for the lack of posts lately!  I really don’t like it when I have periods of inactivity from me on this site.  I’ve just been really swamped, and I’ve also been busy changing things in my apartment.  I’ll be posting a lot more soon, and I’m aiming to have some stuff for this weekend.  I think I just need a vacation, which is probably why I’ve been fishing more than I should be.  Well, at least in a couple of weeks, I’ll be going to Disney.  I’ll be sure to post some stuff since I’m most likely bringing my X-E1 with me.  I’ll definitely post some stuff before I leave for my trip as well.  Now, onto the announcement of the new Fuji X-E2.

Most of you probably already heard about the announcement but I figured I would also mention it since I there’s a lot of Fuji X Series content on my site.  Shipments of the new X-E2 will begin on November 15th, according to Amazon.  There are a some improvements that sound interesting: you get the new 16 megapixel X-Trans CMOS II sensor, and face detection to name a few but I think one of the big improvements that a lot of people are interested in is what Fuji claims is the “World’s fastest auto focus speed of 0.08 sec.”  The autofocus speed was considered by some as the Achilles’ heel of the X-E1 but now, it’s suppose to be a lot faster in the X-E2.  I didn’t mind the autofocus speed to much on the X-Pro1 and X-E1 but I am also eager to try out the autofocus speed of the X-E2.

I definitely want to have a go at the new X-E2, see the differences when compared to the X-E1, and who knows, I might actually upgrade from my X-E1 if I find the improvements are really worth it.  Whether or not I upgrade, I will definitely try to get one in for review.  What do any of you think about the new X-E2?  Any of you planning on buying an X-E2?  Anyone planning on trading in their existing X-E1 for the new X-E2?  Anyone feel like the X-E1 was replaced to fast by Fuji?  Feel free to comment below.  For more information, pricing or availability check out Amazon or Adorama.

Thanks for stopping by everyone!  Have a great weekend…I’ll be going to a dinner party with a bunch of friends, and I’m probably bringing a bunch of photo equipment (my friend’s wife loves photography, and wants to see some of my stuff), so I’ll try to post some stuff from that.  Btw, I’m still shooting film!  I’ve just been too busy to finish the roll lol.  Take care!

I agree. I am happy with my X-E1 but I am looking forward for X-E2 review and also hope for X-Pro2 review (when launched).
I have sold my Nikon D7000 with all the lenses just for X-E1 and Fuji primes and the only thing I am rather bothered now is AF speed. I hope it would be much better in low light with X-E2!

    Regards, Jiri

      Hi Jiri,

Thanks for leaving a comment! I love my X-E1; in fact, I haven’t used my X-Pro1 in quite some time. I’m surprised Fuji didn’t update the X-Pro1 first considering it was released first. But I’m definitely looking forward to what the new X-E2 has in store.

Wow, so you changed your whole Nikon system…how do you like the Fuji system when compared to the Nikon?

      All the best,

      Patrick

    Hi Patrick,

Hope you are starting to feel better now. About the XE2 announcement. I wasn’t too happy to hear that there was going to be a new XE2 coming before Fuji was going to announce the Xpro2. But after looking at all the improvements on the XE2, I’m now very excited to give it a try and maybe upgrading to it as well. Exciting times for Fuji!

Looking forward to your review and comparison of the XE2!

    Cheers,
    Kerwin

      Hey Kerwin,

Great to hear from you again! I’m feeling better, thanks for asking! How was your trip to New York? Any new photographic purchases? I know, I was really surprised that Fuji replaced the X-E1 first. If anything, I think the X-Pro1 is more in need of an update than the X-E1. I don’t think the X-E1 is even fully a year old yet. I’m eager to try the new X-E2 but to be honest, I’m a bit more interested in trying out the XF 23mm F1.4. I personally like the 50mm focal length more than the 35mm but knowing that Fuji had plans of making this lens for so long, and finally releasing it gets me a bit psyched to try it out :).

      Take care,

      Patrick

    Hi Patrick,

Yes, I’m also very excited for the 23mm F1.4 lens. I had a brief opportunity to try the lens on my EX1 and really liked what I saw. Looking forward to getting one as soon as the stocks are available here locally. Fuji took there time making and releasing this lens to us. I think it was because they still wanted to sell more X100 and X100s. Since that was the only camera that had the 35mm equivalent focal length.

Anyway, looking forward to your report on the 23mm as well.

    Cheers,
    Kerwin

      Hi Kerwin,

Wow, it’s great that you got to try out the new XF 23mm already. Personally, I can’t wait to have a go at it. I’m normally prefer a 50mm focal length over a 35mm but still, I think the XF 23mm will be one of Fuji’s best. Hopefully, I can get one soon,

      Take care,

      Patrick

    Hi Peter,
You have convinced me to buy the EX instead of OLY.
But, after some years with a NIKON 5100, I’ m used to articulated LCD.
Do you think that I’ll have a problem without it? Let’ s say in night shots or in difficult angles of shooting (near the ground etc).
Do you think that i have to wait for the EX 2?

Thank you for your fine articles!
    Cris
